  • Patent number: 6671255
Abstract: A method for the relative flow control of a data flow, and a switch in which the method may be applied, are described. A buffer unit that reaches a certain degree of fullness sends a message to all units from which it receives data that it cannot receive any more data or that it can only receive at a reduced rate. The message is forwarded by each unit that receives it, to each unit from which it receives data and comprises a level indicator field, which is incremented for each unit it passes. For each unit passed a field is also added, identifying the unit from which it was received. Each unit is denoted by its number among all units receiving packets from the level above it. The message may be valid either for a certain period of time or until a new message is transmitted indicating that the problems have ceased.

  • Patent number: 6343898
Abstract: A metal cutting tool includes a holder arrangement, an indexible cutting insert seated on an insert-receiving site of the holder arrangement, and a screw for fastening the insert to the site. The bottom side of the insert includes more than two upright abutment surfaces arranged to abut respective upright support surfaces of the site, whereby the areas of contact formed by the mutually abutting surfaces lie inside of an outer perimeter of the insert. The abutment surfaces are oriented non-parallel to one another. The screw is arranged to urge the insert in a direction whereby less than all of the abutment surfaces abut respective support surfaces, and at least one abutment surface does not abut a support surface. When the insert is indexed, the non-abutting abutment surface is relocated and caused to abut a support surface when the screw is tightened, while an abutment surface that previously abutted a support surface becomes a non-abutting surface.

  • Patent number: 6146061
Abstract: A cutting insert for the chipforming machining of metals is mounted on a holder. A holding surface of the holder includes at least one rib extending in the longitudinal direction of the holder. The bottom surface of the insert includes at least one groove which receives the rib of the holder. The flanks of the rib and groove are inclined, whereby the insert is supported by those flanks. The bottom side of the insert further includes a transverse surfaces extending perpendicular to the groove and which are adapted to engage corresponding transverse surfaces of the holding surface, in order to resist longitudinal forces applied to the cutting insert.

  • Patent number: 5256386
Abstract: Silica particles which are substantially spherical, have a particle size of 1 to 100 .mu.m, a very narrow pore size distribution and a low alkali metal content. The particles can be prepared by sol-gel technique using emulsification technique for drop formation. The process comprises a sol growth step in a basic environment based on ammonium or amines and a post-treatment in such an environment. The silica particles are particularly suitable for use in chromatography as they have very good particle and porosity properties and high purity.

  • Patent number: 4293596
Abstract: A method of coating which involves applying to a surface a dispersion containing a main bonding agent and a temporary bonding agent. The main bonding agent is not film forming at room temperature. Next the continuous phase of the dispersion is permitted to evaporate or is driven off, followed by precipitation of the main bonding agent and the temporary bonding agent to form a porous powder layer on the surface. The temporary bonding agent bonds the main bonding agent to the surface. The porous layer is then exposed to a solvent which causes the particles of the bonding agents to flow together, and any excess solvent is removed.
