Publication number: 20240171188Abstract: A continuous time single drive capacitance-to-voltage (C2V) converter can be employed for single sensor, balanced single sensor, or differential sensor. First sensor and/or second sensor can be employed to sense a condition. A capacitive bridge can comprise a first capacitive digital-to-analog-converter (DAC) and second capacitive DAC as a differential node. First capacitive DAC can be associated with first sensor, and second capacitive DAC can be associated with a third capacitive DAC, in series with first sensor, if single sensor is implemented or the second sensor if balanced single sensor or differential sensor is implemented. Capacitive bridge can be connected to differential input of a capacitive feedback amplifier that can be a continuous time amplifier with no signal sampling and no noise folding. Capacitive feedback amplifier can comprise capacitively coupled input common mode feedback, which can remove noise from a sensor drive, and output common mode feedback.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 2, 2023Publication date: May 23, 2024Inventors: Wouter Bracke, Bert Serneels, Athanasios Sarafianos, Tim Piessens

Patent number: 11864884Abstract: A tracking reference fixation support configured to fasten a medical tracking reference to a patient's head, the fixation support comprising an elastically deformable base-plate having a bottom surface, the base-plate being configured to rest via the bottom surface against the surface of a patient's head; an interface-plate providing an interface for rigidly attaching a medical tracking reference to the fixation support; and at least one joint that couples the interface-plate to the base-plate, which allows the base-plate to deform while the interface-plate remains substantially dimensionally stable. The invention further relates to a corresponding tracking reference headband and to a corresponding method of providing a patient's head with a tracking reference.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2016Date of Patent: January 9, 2024Assignee: Brainlab AGInventors: Tobias Neun, Norman Plassky, Stefanie Schiele, Christian Lechner, Bert Bracke

Patent number: 11065066Abstract: A method for providing positional relationship data, which represent the position of a marker device relative to a bone which it is affixed to, to a medical navigation system, including receiving bone registration data which represent locations of points on the surface of the bone, calculating, from the bone registration data, the current relative position between the bone and a medical instrument which bears the marker device, determining an offset between the current relative position and a desired relative position; outputting indication information which is based on the calculated offset, receiving bone re-registration data which represent locations of points on the surface of the bone, and calculating the positional relationship data from the bone re-registration data.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2020Date of Patent: July 20, 2021Assignees: Smith & Nephew, Inc., Smith & Nephew Orthopaedics AG, Smith & Nephew Asia Pacific Pte. LimitedInventors: Manuel Millahn, Bert Bracke, Christian Brack

Patent number: 10342619Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for determining the mechanical axis of a bone using an electronic device which is rigidly attached to the bone and comprises a video camera, wherein: the mechanical axis is determined from the positions of two points which define the mechanical axis; the first of the two points is determined as the center of rotation when the bone is pivoted about the first point, the center of rotation being determined from an output signal of the camera which captures a stationary marker device; and the second point is the exit point of the mechanical axis on the outer surface at the opposite end of the bone to the first point.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2011Date of Patent: July 9, 2019Assignee: Brainlab AGInventors: Bert Bracke, Christian Brack, Timo Neubauer, Manuel Millahn
