  • Publication number: 20220159231
Abstract: Methods, devices and stream are disclosed for encoding, transporting and decoding a 3D scene prepared to be viewed from the inside of a viewing zone. A central view comprising texture and depth information is encoded by projected points of the 3D scene visible from a central point of view onto an image plane. Patches are generated to encode small parts of the 3D scene not visible from the central point of view. At the rendering, a viewport image is generated for the current point of view. Holes, that is dis-occluded areas, of the viewport are filled using a patch based inpainting algorithm adapted to take the patches, warped according to the rotation and translation between virtual camera used for capturing the patch and the current virtual camera.

  • Publication number: 20220138990
Abstract: A sequence of three-dimension scenes is encoded as a video by an encoder and transmitted to a decoder which retrieves the sequence of 3D scenes. Points of a 3D scene visible from a determined point of view are encoded as a color image in a first track of the stream in order to be decodable independently from other tracks of the stream. The color image is compatible with a three degrees of freedom rendering. Depth information and depth and color of residual points of the scene are encoded in separate tracks of the stream and are decoded only in case the decoder is configured to decode the scene for a volumetric rendering.

  • Publication number: 20220084162
Abstract: Methods and devices are provided to encode points of a sphere onto an image by projecting them as a function of an isotropic region guided mapping operator and/or to decode pixels of an image onto a sphere by de-projected them according to the same parametrized mapping operator. A region of interest is determined on the sphere and the angular resolution of pixels of the image is modulated as a function of their distance to the reference pixel corresponding to the center of the region of interest. Chosen angular resolutions and size of the region of interest are associated with the image and encoded in a stream.

  • Publication number: 20210400334
Abstract: Methods and devices are provided to play back a video content item comprising loop sequences. The player manages two or three playing modes and switch between first-in first-out video buffer and circular video buffer with a size adapted to the loop sequences for which the player is in loop mode. A start point and an end point are obtained for each loop sequence of the video. In an embodiment, a code is associated with frames of the video to indicate to which loop(s) a frame belongs to.

  • Patent number: 11178383
Abstract: Methods and device for encoding/decoding data representative of a 3D scene. First data representative of texture of the 3D scene visible from a first viewpoint is encoded into first tracks. The first data is arranged in first tiles of a first frame. Second data representative of depth associated with points of the 3D scene is encoded into second tracks. The second data is arranged in second tiles of a second frame, the total number of second tiles being greater than the total number of first tiles. Instructions to extract at least a part of the first data and second data from at least a part of the at least a first track and at least a second track are further encoded into one or more third tracks.

  • Patent number: 11122101
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods, devices or streams for encoding, transmitting and decoding two-dimension point clouds. When encoding point clouds as frames, a large number of pixels are not used. A dense mapping operator optimizes the use of pixels but requires a lot of data to be encoded in the stream and its inverse operator is difficult to compute. A simplified mapping operator is generated according to a dense mapping operator and is stored as matrices of two-dimension coordinates representative of an unfolded grid which requires low space in the stream. The inverse operator is easy to generate according to the unfolded grid.

  • Patent number: 11095920
Abstract: A colored 3D scene is encoded as one or two patch atlas images. Points of the 3D scene belonging a part of the space defined according to a truncated sphere center on a point of view and visible from this point of view are iteratively projected onto projection maps. At each iteration the projected part is removed from the 3D scene and the truncated sphere defining the next part of the scene to be projected is rotated. Once the entirety of the 3D scene is projected on a set of projection maps, pictures are determined within these maps. A picture, also called patch, is a cluster of depth consistent connected pixels. Patches are packed in a depth and a color atlas associated with data comprising an information relative to the rotation of the truncated sphere, so, a decoder can retrieve the projection mapping and proceed to the inverse projection.

  • Publication number: 20210074025
Abstract: Methods and devices are provided to encode and decode a data stream carrying data representative of a three-dimensional scene, the data stream comprising color pictures packed in a color image; depth pictures packed in a depth image; and a set of patch data items comprising de-projection data; data for retrieving a color picture in the color image and geometry data. These data are inserted in the video track of the stream with associated temporal information. The color and depth pictures that are repeated at least two times in a sequence of patches are not packed in the images but inserted in the image track of the stream and are pointed by color or geometry data.

  • Publication number: 20150370875
Abstract: A method for creating one distribution content from one original master content is disclosed where the method comprises first obtaining a set of fingerprint for the original master content and then creating the distribution content, with saving, in a database, a set of transformation of the original master content. Then, when a copy content has to be registered, a method for registering the content to the distribution content is disclosed where a distortion model is obtained by comparing the set of master fingerprints of the original master content with a set of fingerprints of the copy content. The set of transformation is then combined with the distortion model for registering the copy content.
