The mechanism includes a crypto mechanism that decrypts and integrity-checks Secure Object information as said Secure Object information moves into the computer system from an external storage system, and encrypts and updates an integrity value for Secure Object information as said Secure Object information moves out of the computer system to the external storage system, and a memory protection mechanism that protects the confidentiality and integrity of Secure Object information when that information is in the memory of the computer system.

Available funds data is received at a financial services card that includes visual indicators (e.g., LEDs, etc.), a memory, a processor, a power source, and a wireless transmitter. The available funds data is received via the wireless transmitter. Visual indicators are selected based on the available funds data received from the financial services provider. The selected visual indicators are activated by providing power to the indicators from the power source. In one embodiment, the power source is a piezoelectric material, such as a piezoelectric crystal, that generates power to activate the visual indicators and run the processors and wireless transmitter based on manipulation of the card (e.g., applying pressure, etc. to the card) by the user.
