    Abstract: A system for providing a supply of air for supporting combustion in a fireplace from a source outside the room wherein the fireplace is installed. The outside air passes through ducts extending along each side of the fireplace and communicating with opposite ends of a manifold extending entirely across the front of the fireplace and having an open top immediately adjacent the lower, front edge of the fireplace so that air from the manifold is drawn directly into the firebox. The air may also provide cooling for the walls of the fireplace.
