Publication number: 20240160360Abstract: Methods and systems for managing, storing, and serving data within a virtualized environment are described. In some embodiments, a data management system may manage the extraction and storage of virtual machine snapshots, provide near instantaneous restoration of a virtual machine or one or more files located on the virtual machine, and enable secondary workloads to directly use the data management system as a primary storage target to read or modify past versions of data. The data management system may allow a virtual machine snapshot of a virtual machine stored within the system to be directly mounted to enable substantially instantaneous virtual machine recovery of the virtual machine.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2024Publication date: May 16, 2024Inventors: Arvind Jain, Arvind Nithrakashyap, Bipul Sinha, Soham Mazumdar, Adam Gee, Kenny To, Jonathan Derryberry

Patent number: 11392588Abstract: A query result set is an example of a type of body of data whose content is defined by a query. Modifications to a database can change the result of a query and therefore what the content of such a body of data, such as a result set, should be. Active Queries is an approach that enables a database server to detect database changes that alter the result of a query registered for a client and to notify a client of those changes. The notifications may be sent to, for example, a cache manager responsible for maintaining coherency of a result set cache generated by the query. The notification notifies the cache manager of when and/or what changes are needed to maintain the coherency of the cache.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2004Date of Patent: July 19, 2022Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Amit Ganesh, Bipul Sinha, Srinivas Vemuri

Publication number: 20180134900Abstract: The present invention discloses a reactor (100) for manufacturing carbon black, said reactor (100) comprising flow guide means (110) provided between a fuel burner (106) and an air inlet (108) for altering the flow path of combustion air entering at the air inlet (108) to result in a better mixing between the fuel and the combustion air, thereby, producing higher temperature hot combustion gases which are subsequently received in a reaction chamber (104) where they react with a carbonaceous feedstock to produce carbon black. The reactor (100) of the present invention increases the carbon black production by 5-20%. Further, the positioning of the flow guise means (110) stabilizes the flame from the fuel burner (106) to maintain it along the reactor axis, thus, increasing the life of the refractory lining (114).Type: ApplicationFiled: June 27, 2017Publication date: May 17, 2018Inventors: Juan Rodriguez, Bipul Sinha, Vivek Vitankar

Patent number: 9697253Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product is disclosed for caching results in a client-side cache. Embodiments of a method, a system, and a computer program product are disclosed that associate a first snapshot of a database with a client that indicates a state of the database after a last database request by the client, and indicate any number of invalid cached results in the client cache for the client based upon the first snapshot. In some embodiments, the method further includes receiving a second snapshot that indicates a state of the database upon receipt of a database server request by the client, and updating the first snapshot with the second snapshot.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2007Date of Patent: July 4, 2017Assignee: ORACLE INTERNATIONAL CORPORATIONInventors: Lakshminarayanan Chidambaran, Mehul Dilip Bastawala, Srinath Krishnaswamy, Tirthankar Lahiri, Juan R. Patent number: 9400812Abstract: Disclosed is a mechanism, system, interface, and process to determine one or more life intervals when given a key. In addition, one or more life intervals can be determined for each key within a range of keys. This type of process is useful for auditing purposes or if it is desire to implement a query upon past versions when a key or range of keys is specified for the data for which past versions is desired. This facilitates algorithms, mechanisms, and processes to implement a query upon past versions.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2011Date of Patent: July 26, 2016Assignee: ORACLE INTERNATIONAL CORPORATIONInventors: Bipul Sinha, Vivekanandhan Raja, Amit Ganesh

Patent number: 8856083Abstract: A bulk delete operation with reduced latency allows for retrieval of deleted data. Each database object holds a Delete SCN indicating when a bulk delete operation was last performed. Each row in the database object holds a Row Modification SCN indicating when the row was last updated. A bulk delete is performed by writing the old value of the Delete SCN to the undo tablespace and updating the Delete SCN. No undo information is stored for the rows. A write is performed by finding a deleted row, storing undo information for the deleted row and writing over the deleted row. To read from the database object, a rollback operation is performed, if necessary. Those rows are then retrieved for which the Row Modification SCN is higher than the Delete SCN and is less than or equal to the timestamp for the requested data.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2006Date of Patent: October 7, 2014Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Amit Ganesh, Niloy Mukherjee, Manosiz Bhattacharyya, Bipul Sinha

Patent number: 8818934Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for transparent support for distributed transactions in a clustered disk-sharing database environment is disclosed. In one approach, a method, a system and a computer program product are disclosed that disassociate a transaction with a session at a first resource manger, send a request to a second resource manager for the transaction that requires access to stored transaction information from prior requests for the transaction, determine whether the second resource manager has access to transaction information for the transaction stored using the session that has been disassociated with the transaction, obtain an identity of the first resource manager in data shared by the first and the second resource managers, and request access to the transaction information at the first resource manager.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2008Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Yong Hu, Bipul Sinha

Patent number: 8589357Abstract: A technique for making versions of rows of a user-defined tracked table temporally queryable. The database management system of the technique permits temporal queries of user-defined tables. The queries return versions of rows in the user-defined table that are currently in an undo log maintained by the database system. Associated with the tracked table are a system history table which contains versions of the rows and temporal metadata indicating when the versions were in the tracked table and a system form history table which contains versions of the form of the tracked table and metadata indicating when the tracked table had the form. These tables are created and maintained by a background process in the database management system. A temporal query on the tracked table combines results from the undo log with results from the system history table. The results' form is determined by the system form history table.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2007Date of Patent: November 19, 2013Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Venkatesh Radhakrishnan, Vasudha Krishnaswamy, Liang Guo, Bipul Sinha, Amit Ganesh

Patent number: 8185508Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for creating and using a filter index in order to identify registered queries whose result sets are likely to have been changed by changes made to tables. The filter index entries are based on filter conditions. The filter conditions are created based on predicates contained in the registered queries. The filter conditions may include exclusive predicates and join predicates. Join predicates that join a table T1 with a table T2 may be instantiated by replacing references to table T2 with values extracted from table T2. Various techniques are described for recognizing situations in which a query can be included in, or excluded from, the set of likely-changed queries, without fully evaluating the filter conditions that correspond to the queries.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2008Date of Patent: May 22, 2012Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Srinivas S.
