  • Patent number: 4055112
Abstract: Process and apparatus for controlling the flow of ventilating-tempering air in a room to cause the flow to remain primarily along the walls, ceiling and floor, thereby to achieve better distribution of incoming air and more uniform room temperatures without uncomfortable drafts in the main body of the room. To accomplish this, the ventilating-tempering air is initially launched into the room along a boundary surface such as a wall or ceiling, and nozzles below the ceiling form air screens or jets below the ventilating-tempering air stream to guide it along the ceiling and down the walls. An intermediate grate-like ceiling of crossed lamellae is also preferably used to aid in separating ventilating-tempering air stream from the main center of the room.

  • Patent number: 3987713
Abstract: A low-noise nozzle system for receiving an air flow from a relatively low-velocity, high-volume air source and for producing therefrom a high-velocity, low-volume jet of air for delivery into a room to control the distribution of air in the room. The nozzle inner walls first extend along a straight axis into the room, then bend gradually at right angles to feed an outlet aperture which injects the jet into the room at right angles to the axis. The aperture is in a plane parallel to said straight axis and elongated at right angles to said axis; low-noise delivery of the jet into the room is accomplished by special proportioning of the radii of the nozzle inner walls at the bend in relation to the size of the inlet to the nozzle, and of the size of the outlet aperture relative to the size of said nozzle inlet.

  • Patent number: 3946647
Abstract: The throwing length of a stream of air entering a room through a large-area ventilator outlet is controllably increased by including within the aperture of the ventilator at least one air nozzle of adjustable direction and orifice cross-section and supplied with air under sufficiently high pressure to produce a high-velocity low-volume air jet directed into the room along the general direction of the main air stream.
