  • Patent number: 5192133
Abstract: The present invention relates to a flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC) for transportation, storage and lifting of bulk material. The container has improved bottom and top construction, and it comprises a hose shape blank made from a round woven fabric or from at least one piece of flat woven fabric joined at its bottom and/or top end after folding the blank in three or more longitudinal folds each consisting of two layers. The length of the joint(s) is less than 1/4 of the container circumference. The FIBC has a filling opening, possibly a liner and might have a lifting loop which is formed by integral extensions of the side walls of the blank.

  • Patent number: 4991979
Abstract: A flexible intermediate bulk container includes at least one lifting loop and a double base made of two bottom parts that can be direct extensions of sidewalls of the container. The bottom parts have openings positioned directly one above the other, thus forming an opening in the base. In between the bottom parts it is arranged a closure of flexible material with projections on each side of one end. The projections of the closure are fastened to the base by joints or seams. The other end of the closure has a handle. The closure can be made of woven fabric of similar or the same type as that of the container.

  • Patent number: 4925317
Abstract: A flexible intermediate container has at least one improved lifting loop formed by joining integral extensions of a side wall structures. The extensions are at their upper free ends cut to form at least two flaps which are positioned above or below the extensions on both sides of a folding line or seam, thus forming a lifting loop joint comprising frictional area of overlapping layers of fabric material. Friction therebetween is secured by a frictional agent such 2500 glue or hot-melt and/or by a mechanical device. The lifting loop can be gathered together and surrounded by at least one band or sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4832506
Abstract: A flexible container is formed of a single piece of material and includes a bottom, a top and side walls, with two opposite openings in top portions of the side walls below the top. The material of the top is folded or gathered from the opposite openings toward the center of the top, thereby forming an integral lifting loop formed of integral extensions of the side walls. The lifting loop extends over the center of the container between the opposite openings. The thus folded or gathered material is joined at an uppermost lifting area of the lifting loop, thereby forming a permanent lifting handle.

  • Patent number: 4781470
Abstract: A flexible container for transportation and storage of bulk material includes integral lifting loops having openings for the insertion of lifting devices. In the upper part of the container is placed a separating member, preferably of flexible material, which separates and can close off that part of the container to be filled with bulk material from the lifting area of the container. The separating member is fastened to the container adjacent the openings thereof and possibly also to walls of the container or is pressed thereagainst by a lifting handle sleeve. A filling spout preferably is an integral part of the separating member. Also, the separating member can be Y-shaped or T-shaped including legs or branches that can be equally long or have different lengths. Side legs or branches have openings adjacent edges of which are fastened adjacent the openings in the lifting loops of the container.

  • Patent number: 4750846
Abstract: A container includes an outer load carrying bag or container with lifting loop(s) and at least one filling opening, and a liner having two sides closed with welds spaced from the inner side edges to form skirts which allow air in the liner to escape through openings between the welds. The welds are interrupted and overlapped by a distance a, preferably such that 0%<a<50% of the liner's total side length. The liner is placed in the outer container such that the welded seams with the skirts are parallel to the vertical axis of the container and are fastened to side seams thereof. The liner has an opening for filling of bulk material, and it may have a gusset which preferably has a height of up to 1/4 of the flat width of the liner between the welds.

  • Patent number: 4736449
Abstract: A flexible container for transportation and storage of bulk material includes integral lifting loops having openings for the insertion of lifting devices. Inside the upper part of the container is fastened a pipe-shaped piece of material having a branch pipe portion, preferably of flexible material, and separating and closing off that part of the container to be filled with bulk material, from the lifting loop. The piece of material is fastened to the walls of the container beneath the openings thereof. The branch pipe portion can serve as a filling spout. The branch pipe portion need not be provided. The pipe-shaped piece of material has a diameter which is substantially equal to that of the container.

  • Patent number: 4579152
Abstract: Fluidizable material is filled into a container by a simple and safe filling operation enabling the further transport of the filled container to be simplified. A plane during the filling operation and immediately thereafter is adjusted to an angle (y) of at least 2.degree. to the horizontal and a support is adjusted to an angle (X) of at least 2.degree. to the vertical, such that the container leans back against the support when it is filled with fluidizable material and does not slide off the bottom plane even when its lifting loops are released from a holding device. The bottom plane and the support can comprise a unit in which the bottom plane extends at about 90.degree. to the rear wall of the support. The angles x and y can be equal or different and preferred values for these angles are 5.degree.-15.degree..

  • Patent number: 4420021
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for filling bulk material into flexible containers. The filling is carried out through a filling pipe or spout while the container is hanging on a hook. The impervious part of the container, which may be in form of an inner bag, is fastened around the spout and kept in place during the filling operation without any special fastening means. This is obtained by first hanging at least one lifting loop on the hook before the pipe is put into the container. Then the remaining loops are hooked onto the hook during simultaneous or subsequent filling of the container with air. The loops are secured together while the container is hanging on the hook. Thus, the container will be made ready for further transport as soon as it is filled and its impervious bag is closed. The apparatus comprises a batch weigher, storage bin having an outlet into a funnel with a pipe for supplying air.

  • Patent number: 4269247
Abstract: A single piece of woven material is folded in half along a fold line forming a sack top. Bottom free edges are sewn to form a bottom seam. Side free edges are sewn to form side seams which are spaced from the fold line. A single slit is formed from the fold line between the side edges. The slit does not cut lengthwise extending strips of the woven material, such that upon lifting the sack by lifting loops between the slit and the side edges, the lifting stress is evenly distributed among all of the lengthwise strips.

  • Patent number: 4191229
Abstract: A single elongated piece of material has a major longitudinal dimension and is folded along plural fold lines extending transverse to the major longitudinal dimension, thereby forming plural wall sections and plural bottom sections. The plural bottom sections are overlapped to form a plural ply bottom of the container. The wall sections are lined with edges thereof being juxtaposed, and at least portions of the juxtaposed edges are joined to form corner edges of the container. Certain of the fold lines form an upper portion of the container. Longitudinally opposite free end edges of the piece of material are joined. The edges of the bottom sections which extend transverse to the fold lines are free and substantially unattached.
