  • Publication number: 20160356407
Abstract: In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an improved anti-rotation device and connector assembly designed to prevent rotation of a first threaded portion of the connector assembly with respect to a second threaded portion of the connector assembly is provided. The anti-rotation device and connector assembly include features that guide and smooth the transition of the anti-rotation device into a position extending through the first and second threaded portions. In some embodiments, the anti-rotation device may extend through a tab/groove interface between the first and second threaded portions. In other embodiments, the anti-rotation device may engage opposing interfacing edges of the first and second threaded portions along the length of the anti-rotation device. Once the anti-rotation device is installed through the first and second threaded portions, the anti-rotation device may prevent rotation of the threaded portions relative to each other.

  • Publication number: 20160356096
Abstract: In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an improved anti-rotation key designed to prevent rotation of a first threaded portion of a connector assembly with respect to a second threaded portion of the connector assembly is provided. The disclosed key includes several features that facilitate easier, faster, and more accurate securing of the key within the connector. For example, the key may include features that guide, pre-load, and smooth the transition of the key from an initial position to a fully engaged and energized position. Specifically, the key may include a tapered first surface for engaging with a tapered surface of the first threaded portion, and a set of short teeth and a set of long teeth on a second surface opposite the tapered first surface for engaging with an engagement surface on the second threaded portion.

  • Publication number: 20160356097
Abstract: In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an improved anti-rotation device designed to prevent rotation of a first threaded portion of a connector assembly with respect to a second threaded portion of the connector assembly is provided. The disclosed anti-rotation device may be an integral part of one end of the connector assembly, so that the anti-rotation device cannot become lost before the first and second threaded sections are coupled together. The anti-rotation key may be rotatably coupled to the first threaded portion and may be easily transitioned from an unlocked position within the connector assembly to a locked position that prevents rotation of the threaded portions relative to each other.

  • Patent number: 7040412
Abstract: An adjustable hanger system and related method connect a hanger to a wellhead, with a hanger supporting a tubular secured at its lower end in the well. The wellhead includes a housing 20 having a plurality of axially spaced support grooves 23, and a hanger 30 including a support ring 32 radially moveable into a selected one of the support grooves on the wellhead housing. A lock down ring 34 may limit axially upward movement of the hanger with respect to the wellhead, while a support ring 32 may be used to limit axially downward movement of the hanger with respect to the wellhead housing. Both the support ring and the lock ring may be a substantially C-shaped rings which move radially outward into a selected one of the support grooves or locking grooves.

  • Patent number: 6988553
Abstract: A horizontal spool tree wellhead system 10 utilizes a casing 18, 19 installed in a well bore and a wellhead housing 20 at the upper end of the casing. A spool 23 of the horizontal tree 22 is connected to the upper end of the wellhead housing, and includes at least one radially extending side port. The BOP 28 is also installed at the upper end of the housing with a bore aligned with the wellhead housing bore. After drilling the well, the casing string 19 carrying a casing hanger 42 may be lowered through the bores of the BOP, the spool tree, and the wellhead housing and into the well. An orientation/isolation sleeve 60 may be installed in a predetermined rotational orientation with the spool tree. A tubing hanger 70 having a side port is landed onto the orientation sleeve and is automatically oriented to align the tubing hanger side port with the spool side port.
