  • Patent number: 8876182
Abstract: A handling device includes a base plate defining an X-Y plane, a plurality of X rails movably supported on the base plate and extending in an X-direction, a plurality of Y rails movably supported on the base plate and extending in a Y-direction perpendicular to the X-direction and a drive system supported on the base plate for moving the X rails in the Y-direction and for moving the Y rails in the X-direction, wherein a spacing between the X rails varies as the X rails move, and wherein a spacing between the Y rails varies as the Y rails move, and wherein the spacing between the X-rails is continuously variable with respect to the spacing between the Y rails.

  • Patent number: 8104752
Abstract: A unique X, Y, ? (Rotary) positioning system is disclosed that may include a machine base assembly with a substrate slide moving on the machine base with either a recirculating or air bearing in Y direction and two integrated cross stages attached to the slide which can kinetically provide large movements of the slide relative to the base in the X direction as well as generating large motion of the slide in the rotary ? direction about a virtual center of rotation. The positioning system allows a user to position large format glass substrates and the like with precision control. Specifically, depending on the mounting configuration of the present invention, a user may correct for straightness in X, X? and Y directions, yaw in the A rotation direction and position in the X, X? and Y direction.

  • Publication number: 20070216892
Abstract: The present invention allows for a large format substrate plate to move precisely in X, Y and ? Rotary directions with an integrated linear XY mechanism. The mechanism includes X1, X2 stages which are mounted to the moving substrate plate and Y1 and Y2 stages which are mounted to the machine base. The slides of the X and Y stages are connected to each other through a revolute joint. The resulting integrated X,Y mechanism can move the substrate plate in X,Y and Rotary ? directions preferably by motorizing at least three of the four linear stages with feedback encoders and by using computer controller to command the three motorized stages to move to their desired positions. The relationship between the desired position of the substrate in a global XY coordinate system and the motion of each motorized stage is provided through trigonometric transformations which are integral part of this invention.

  • Patent number: 4708333
Abstract: A method of separating and feeding sheets from a stack comprises the steps of bringing a pick-up head into engagement with an intermediate portion of the top sheet of the stack while leaving the opposite ends of the sheet free, applying an air stream from each of the opposite sides of the stack and directed inwardly to impinge against the stack and to cause the free ends of the top sheets of the stack to separate from the underlying sheets, and moving the pick-up head with the picked-up top sheet away from the stack.
