  • Patent number: 6009625
Abstract: A hand tool combination is useful for punching various sized holes in the sidewall of irrigation tubing to discharge water onto crop-growing soil. The tool combination comprises an elongated handle member including a hand grasping section at one end thereof and carrying a cutter element assembly at the other end thereof. The cutter element assembly includes at least one hole-forming cutting element removably mounted to a cutting element carrier module. A plurality of cutting elements each includes a cutting edge effective to penetrate the sidewall of the irrigation tubing when thrust against the tubing by an individual gripping the hand grasping section and swinging the cutter element assembly toward the sidewall.

  • Patent number: 5735630
Abstract: A striking tool assembly comprises a tool head including a tool eye having disposed therein a sleeve member for receiving an elongated tool handle to perform a manual tool work operation. A flexing structure enables the annular wall structure of the sleeve member to temporarily collapse inwardly for a retaining section to be located in a sleeve securing position when the sleeve member is moved in a longitudinal axial direction into the tool head eye. The sleeve member includes a tool eye mating portion and an overstrike portion. The tool head system comprises a plurality of tool heads each of which is effective to perform a different manual work operation. The sleeve member of each tool head assembly has an inner tapered bore including an inner frictionally mating surface effective to frictionally mate with a preselected elongated tool handle, which may be used interchangeably with each tool head of the tool head system.

  • Patent number: 5415448
Abstract: The universal replacement handle of this invention may be used with a variety of tools such as shovels having a handle-receiving socket. The handle comprises a handle member having a tool coupling section at one end thereof and a hand-grasping section extending outwardly from the tool coupling section. The tool coupling section includes a plurality of socket adaptors effective to cause the handle to fit the handle-receiving sockets of a variety of shovels selected from the group consisting of a handle back shovel with a shoulder, a Razorback.RTM. open back shovel, a lock socket shovel, a solid socket closedback shovel with a shoulder, and a solid shank closedback shovel without a shoulder. The tool coupling section includes first and second adaptor mounting sections for carrying respective first and second adaptor mechanisms having removable segments designed to adapt the handle to a particular handle-receiving socket.

  • Patent number: 4344901
Abstract: An elongated tool handle has a solid wood shaft member and a molded, tool holding section molded directly to the wood at the tool end portion of the shaft member. The tool holding section is composed of a high impact material which is effective to secure a tool in place on the tool holding section. The tool holding section includes a volumetric mass of high impact material which gives off an amount of heat in its molten condition effective to drive moisture out of kiln dried wood. The wood of the shaft member has an amount of moisture sufficient to maintain the natural handle strength characteristics of the wood with the tool holding end section molded directly thereto. When the tool having an eye for the reception of the handle is placed over the molded, tool holding section, a slight outward expansion occurs in the material behind the tool head. A novel method is required to produce the tool handle with a molded tool holding section molded directly to a wood shaft.
