  • Patent number: 10435307
Abstract: A closed loop contaminant control system for an evaporative water purification process at an oil recovery facility includes an evaporator having a water inlet, a distilled water discharge, and an oil and brine water discharge. A sump in the evaporator is divided by an oil skimming weir into a main sump and a blowdown sump, with the oil and brine water discharge located proximate the blowdown sump and the steam discharge located above the oil and brine discharge. A distillate tank receives distilled water from the evaporator and discharges the distilled water. The distillate tank has a level controller, other controllers provided for the system include a distilled water flow meter, a blowdown flow meter, a cycle controller, a total flow controller, a hardness controller, and a silica controller.

  • Patent number: 10240693
Abstract: A method of building a fluids processing facility includes arranging a first level of modules, each module having a longitudinal axis and each containing at least one first pipe in a substantially adjacent and parallel orientation. A pipe rack module is arranged on a second higher level, such that a longitudinal axis of the pipe rack module is oriented in a direction that is substantially normal to the longitudinal axes of the first level of modules. The pipe rack module includes at least one second pipe. The at least one first pipe of each of the first level of modules is connected with each other via the at least one second pipe disposed in the pipe rack module to form a processing facility. Also disclosed is a pipe rack module which connects several piping modules in a fluids processing facility to each other.

  • Patent number: 10239766
Abstract: A horizontal sump for producing high quality steam, includes at least one inlet, for connection to an evaporator, for receiving steam and contaminated water from the evaporator, the evaporator having a tube side and a shell side. The horizontal sump further includes at least one steam outlet for feeding steam to an evaporator compressor. The at least one steam outlet further includes at least one wash tray, for washing any entrained brine from the steam prior to introduction of the steam to the evaporator compressor, wherein the horizontal sump increases residence time of water and steam in the sump resulting in a steam of quality greater than that of the steam from the steam and contaminated water from the evaporator.

  • Publication number: 20140054028
Abstract: 1. A bitumen recovery process where the process includes the following steps: a) Drilling a single well into a bitumen deposit; b) Equipping the well with a heating element, a solvent injecting member, and a bitumen recovering member; c) Injecting the well with a solvent; d) Heating the solvent with the heating element to a vapor state; e) Mixing the solvent vapour with bitumen in the deposit; f) Draining the bitumen to the bottom of the well; g) Heating the bitumen to keep its viscosity low; h) Evaporating part of solvent entrapped in the bitumen by the heating element; i) Recovering the bitumen and traces of water from the well; j) Condensing the solvent inside the well for further mixing with the bitumen in the deposit; k) Repeating steps h through j, where the majority of the solvent does not leave the well during the process.
