  • Publication number: 20080130657
Abstract: Provided are method and apparatus for dynamically allocating unlink bandwidth in Ethernet PON. In the method and apparatus, report value, which are received for each logical link identifications (LLID), is controlled to be less than a maximum gate value set for each LLID in sequence for all of LLIDs without a predetermined interval. A gate having a length corresponding to the restricted report value is generated. LLIDs are grouped into classes and processing is done class by class. For each class processing, if maximum processing time is reached or maximum total allocation is reached, the processing is switched to a lower class. Also each class processing, if any higher class has its maximum yield processing time or maximum yield allocated gate reached, the processing is switched to that higher class.

  • Patent number: 7313197
Abstract: Provided are a data transceiver and method for performing equalization and pre-emphasis adaptive to the transmission characteristic of a transmitting part. The transceiver measures the signal attenuation characteristic of a transmission line of a receiving part using an input data signal input via the transmission line of the receiving part, decodes the distorted waveform of the input data signal, distorts the waveform of an output data signal beforehand using the measured signal attenuation characteristic of the transmission line of the receiving part, and transmits the output data signal via a transmission line of a transmitting part. Thus, when the output data signal is transmitted via the transmission line of the transmitting part, the waveform of the signal remains optimized.

  • Publication number: 20070019957
Abstract: The invention provides a method and apparatus for allocating a dynamic band width of an EPON and an EPON master apparatus using the same. The bandwidth allocation is cycle based where every predetermined cycle, static gates are generated for all ONUs and dynamic gates are generated according to the reports using the remaining grant resource. The method for allocating an upstream bandwidth to transmit data from the ONUs to an OLT is as follows. A total allocatable grant length is calculated for the given cycle. A requested amount of grant length needed to transmit upstream data in each ONU is set based on report values collected from the report frames from all ONUs in the EPON. Then, distribution is made sequentially and repeatedly in a cycle by taking a basic unit from the total grant length and adding it to the grant length of the ONUs until the total allocatable grant length becomes 0 or the grant length allocated to all ONUs satisfy the requested amount of the grant length set in all ONUs.

  • Patent number: 6188723
Abstract: A finite impulse response (FIR) filter for wave-shaping digital quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) symbols is disclosed, in which multipliers are replaced with multiplexers, the replaced multiplexers are utilized to receive the symbols directly from a symbol encoder without zero (0) interpolations, and the critical path is reduced by shifting the position of a delay device. The filter includes a first FIR means for delaying the externally inputted symbol data, and for utilizing the delayed symbol data as selection signals to sum up the selected multiplication product (selected from among products obtained by multiplying the symbol values by a pre-set filter tab coefficient) and the selected value selected by a first multiplexing means. A second FIR means delays again the delayed symbol data of the first FIR means, and utilizes the delayed symbol data as selection signals to sum up the selected multiplication product and the output value of the first FIR means.
