Abstract: Disclosed is a composition and method for providing antimicrobial protection to plastic structures, such as plastic decking, planking, fencing, and panels. The method comprises applying a water-soluble biocide to the metal-containing structure, and converting the soluble biocide to a water-insoluble metal biocide salt that is adsorbed on the surface of, or into the porous structure of the plastic material. The slow release of the insoluble antimicrobial agent from the surface or from within the pores of said plastic structure provides antimicrobial protection for the plastic structure.

Abstract: A process for sanitizing water in swimming pools, spas and hot tubs whereby the level of bacteria in said water is lowered comprising:treating said water with a bactericidal effective amount of a combination of di-isodecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride and copper (II) ions, the concentration of diisodecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride in said water being less than about 60 parts per million parts of water by weight; andtreating said water at least intermittently with an oxidant selected from the group consisting of available chlorine and ozone.

Abstract: A biodegradable aqueous filter cleaning formulation containing effective amounts of a biodegradable carboxylic acid and/or salt thereof, a nonionic biodegradable surfactant based on oxyalkylated linear alcohols, and a water soluble organic solvent.

Abstract: Disclosed are selected 4-acyl-2,6-dialkylphenyl adducts of mono- and polysaccharides, which are useful an antioxidants in organic materials (e.g. polyolefins) normally subject to oxidative degradation.

Abstract: A package and process of assembling a package adapted for housing an electronic component. The package includes metallic base, lid and leadframe components sealed together with a thermoplastic material. The thermoplastic has an additive consisting essentially of a metal deactivator and a primary antioxidant grafted thereto without cross linking so as to maintain the thermoplastic properties.

Abstract: Disclosed are bis(4-oxyalkylated-2,6-dialkylphenol) adducts of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid having the formula: ##STR1## wherein each R is a 2,6-dialkyl moiety having the formula: ##STR2## wherein each R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of branched alkyl groups having from about 4 to about 8 carbon atoms and R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a methyl group and ethyl group.These compounds are useful as stabilizers in organic materials against oxidative degradation.

Abstract: Disclosed are selected alkylhydrazine and hydroxyalkylhydrazine adducts of diisocyanates having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of an arylene group containing from 6 to about 12 carbon atoms and a cycloalkylene group containing from about 5 to about 20 carbon atoms; and wherein R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl group containing from 1 to about 20 carbon atoms and hydroxyalkyl group containing from 2 to about 20 carbon atoms. These compounds have utility as antioxidants for a variety of organic compounds subject to oxidative degradation, including functional fluids such as petroleum fuels and lubricants.

Abstract: Disclosed are selected N,1-disubstituted hydrazinecarboxamides having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl containing from 1 to about 20 carbon atoms, aromatic containing from about 6 to about 12 carbon atoms, and cycloalkyl containing from about 5 to about 10 carbon atoms, and wherein R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl containing from 1 to about 20 carbon atoms and hydroxyalkyl containing from 2 to about 20 carbon atoms. These compounds have utility as antioxidants for a variety of organic compounds subject to oxidative degradation, including functional fluids such as petroleum fuels and lubricants. Selected hydrazinecarboxamides having the aforesaid formula are also novel compounds.
