  • Publication number: 20180170110
Abstract: A pneumatic tire includes a pair of beads each with an associated bead core and chafer, a single carcass ply folded about each bead so as to define a main body portion and a turnup portion associated with each bead, and a tread disposed radially outward from the single carcass ply, the tread having shoulder portions disposed at axial outer edges of the tread; and a pair of sidewalls extending radially outward from each chafer to a location adjacent each shoulder portion, each sidewall being disposed axially outward of the single carcass ply. The single carcass ply is reinforced with metallic cords, the metallic cords comprising filaments with diameters from 0.10 mm to 0.

  • Publication number: 20130048169
Abstract: A tread for a pneumatic tire includes a tread base layer, a first tread cap layer radially outside of the tread base layer, a second tread cap layer radially outside of the tread base layer and both radially outside and axially adjacent the first tread cap layer, a first tread skirt disposed at an inner tread edge of the pneumatic tire and axially adjacent the tread base layer and the first tread cap layer, and a second tread skirt disposed at an outer tread edge of the pneumatic tire and axially adjacent the tread base layer and the second tread cap layer.

  • Publication number: 20110079334
Abstract: A multi-rib tire tread has a plurality of circumferential spaced apart ribs in an axial direction, adjacent ribs separated by a circumferential grooves and each rib having sides extending radially outward to a radially outward contact surface. The outward contact surface of a central rib has an outwardly convex curvature in an axial direction more rounded than a tread curvature. A first lateral rib and a second lateral rib are positioned adjacent opposite sides of the central rib, each lateral rib having an outwardly convex curvature in an axial direction more rounded than a tread curvature. The convex curvature of the first and second lateral ribs are less rounded than the central rib. The radius of curvature of the center rib is within a range of 170 and 270 millimeters; the radius of curvature of the first lateral rib is within a range of 80 to 180 millimeters; and the radius of curvature of the second lateral rib is within a range of 100 to 200 millimeters.
