Patent number: 8944744Abstract: An industrial truck is shown with a lifting frame, on which a load-receiving section is arranged so as to be movable vertically. The load-receiving section has at least one degree of movement freedom with respect to the lifting frame, which lies in a plane perpendicular to the main direction of travel of the industrial truck and has at least one horizontal component. In addition, a vibration control system is provided for damping or preventing vibrations in the relative position of load-receiving section and lifting frame.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2011Date of Patent: February 3, 2015Assignee: Technische Universität MünchenInventors: Michael Kleeberger, Michael Buhl, Michael Schipplick, Willibald Günthner, Boris Lohmann, Rudy Eid

Patent number: 6566620Abstract: The invention concerns a method for sorting mail items, said sorting being carried out base on characteristics located on the face of the mail items and by a sorting machine which sorts said explored and recognized characteristics. In order to ensure continuous final sorting in a sorting machine whereof the number of separation racks is less than the number of final directions, the input mail items are pre-sorted according to a pre-sorting plan. Simultaneously, final sorting operations are executed on the machine, the pre-sorted mail items being re-inserted in the sorting machine to be subjected therein to a final sorting.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2000Date of Patent: May 20, 2003Assignee: Siemens AtkiengsellschaftInventor: Boris Lohmann

Patent number: 6279750Abstract: The invention relates to the distribution of mail items with information on the surface of the mail items. Distribution occurs successively by means of various sorting machines. Sorting in particular is carried out in a succession of operations for the last point of distribution. According to the invention, distribution points are determined once the mail items have been received in the first sorting machine and the thicknesses of the mail items are measured by optical scanning of the mail item surfaces. Mail item thicknesses allocated to the distribution points are registered, stored and statistically prepared if required. Optimized sort programs are then calculated for sorting machines assigned to the various distribution points based on information regarding thickness, and the mail items are distributed accordingly.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1999Date of Patent: August 28, 2001Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventor: Boris Lohmann

Patent number: 6260762Abstract: A method for coding mailing items, in which a determination of the surface available for applying an unambiguous code to arriving mailing items is conducted and an application of the unambiguous code with a number of code signs that is adapted to the respectively determined surface available for coding is performed.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1999Date of Patent: July 17, 2001Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventor: Boris Lohmann

Patent number: 6239397Abstract: A process of the type disclosed according to DE 196 50 875 for sorting mailings having different properties by using sorting machines not suitable for all properties of the mailings. The unsuitable mailings receive an identification (ID) marking and their sensed distribution information is stored under this ID marking. As representing each non-processible mailing, a processible substitute is added to the stack of substitutes being assigned one of the non-processible mailings, in each case by means of an ID marking. Then, the processible mailings and the substitutes are sorted according to the associated distribution information. After sorting, the non-processible mailings are brought into a sequence appropriate for sorting on the basis of the ID markings located on them and the associated substitutes.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1999Date of Patent: May 29, 2001Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Walter Rosenbaum, Ottmar Kechel, Boris Lohmann

Patent number: 6169936Abstract: The invention concerns a method of controlling the input station in a letter-sorting installation, the input station having a scanning and reading device and a mechanical letter-storage path in which letters are conveyed after being scanned by the scanner, the position x at which the address of each letter is read along the storage path being controlled so that x remains between specified values x0 and xmax. The invention calls for the number y of uncoded letters along the storage path to be determined in an auxiliary control circuit and the value of y used to generate the control signal u for control of the input station by a control unit.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1997Date of Patent: January 2, 2001Assignee: Licentia Patent-Verwaltungs-GmbHInventor: Boris Lohmann

Patent number: 5449166Abstract: An apparatus for reversing an orientation of flat items includes a first conveyor driven with a first speed; a second conveyor adjoining the first conveyor such that items discharged by the first conveyor are introduced into the second conveyor; a third conveyor driven with a second speed and adjoining the second conveyor such that items discharged by the second conveyor are introduced into the third conveyor; a sensor for determining a moment when a trailing edge of an item leaves the first conveyor; and a control arrangement connected to the sensor and the second conveyor for driving the second conveyor with the first speed as an item enters the second conveyor from the first conveyor, for decelerating the second conveyor when the sensor determines the moment when a trailing item edge passes by, for reversing a direction of motion of the second conveyor after deceleration and for accelerating the second conveyor to the second speed as an item enters the third conveyor from the second conveyor.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1994Date of Patent: September 12, 1995Assignee: Licentia Patent-Verwaltungs-GmbHInventors: Boris Lohmann, Werner Frank, Armin Zimmermann
