    Abstract: A method is provided for communicating between a server and a client via a network address translator. The server is in communication with the network address translator via a first channel. The client is in communication with the network address translator via a second channel. The method includes performing a universal datagram protocol hole punch through the network address translator, sending an acknowledgment request from the client, receiving the acknowledgment request at the server and sending an acknowledgment. The universal datagram protocol hole punch the first channel with the second channel. The acknowledgment request includes information based on a predetermined period of time. The server sends the acknowledgement after delaying for the predetermined period of time, wherein the acknowledgment is based on the acknowledgment request.
