  • Publication number: 20220029187
Abstract: The present invention relates to a direct alcohol fuel cell comprising a housing containing a proton exchange membrane (PEM) separating an anode section from a cathode section, which anode section and which cathode section are contained in the housing, the cathode section comprising a cathode collection element having one or more ventilation holes, which cathode collection element is electrically connected to a cathode catalyst, which cathode catalyst is in diffusive communication with a gaseous oxidant, and the anode section comprising an anode collection element electrically connected to an anode catalyst, the DAFC comprising an oleophobic filter covering the ventilation hole(s). The oleophobic filter may be held in place using any appropriate means as desired. The fuel cell is suited for a microelectronic device.

  • Publication number: 20220006108
Abstract: A system and method for refuelling a fuel cell having a fuel reservoir. The system includes a cartridge (1) having a first reservoir (2) for storing fuel for the fuel cell and a refuelling unit adapted to receive a waste liquid from the fuel reservoir of the fuel cell and provide fuel from the first reservoir (2) of the cartridge (1) to the fuel reservoir of the fuel cell. The system further includes a second reservoir for storing the waste liquid from the fuel cell, a cartridge for use with the system, a refuelling unit for use with the system.

  • Publication number: 20210280882
Abstract: Disclosed is a refueling unit for refueling a fuel cell. The refueling unit comprising a fuel cell receiving section and a cartridge receiving section. The refueling unit is configured to receive through a waste inlet a waste fluid. The refueling unit further comprises an intermediate fuel reservoir for storing fuel. The refueling unit is configured to firstly receive in the intermediate fuel reservoir a predetermined amount of fuel from a cartridge and secondly empty the intermediate fuel reservoir and guide said fuel stored therein into the fuel reservoir of a fuel cell connected to the fuel cell receiving section.

  • Publication number: 20210270379
Abstract: Disclosed is a fluid system comprising a first member and a membrane sheet. The first member having a first surface, a first fluid inlet and a first flow channel. The membrane sheet having a first side, a second side opposite to the first side and a first slit, wherein the first side of the membrane sheet is abutting the first surface of the first member, the first flow channel forming a fluid passage from the first fluid inlet towards the first slit. The fluid system is configured to allow said membrane sheet to deform and thereby open said first slit and enable a fluid in the first flow channel to flow through the first slit when the pressure at the first slit is higher on the first side of the membrane sheet than on the second side of the membrane sheet.
