  • Patent number: 5853606
Abstract: An identification device for a mold for impressing identifying indicia on each product molded in the mold. A plug retaining insert includes at least one bore through a working face of the insert. A plug member is located in each bore, with the plug member comprising a plug substantially filling the bore proximate the face of the insert, and a shank extending axially into the bore from the plug. A retainer is threaded on the shank, and a spring, bearing against the retainer, seats the plug member in the bore. Indicia of various kinds are located on both the surface of the plug and the face of the insert, with the plug being rotatable to identify a selected portion of the indicia.

  • Patent number: 5850670
Abstract: An adjustable bushing to accommodate a leader pin of a plastic mold. The adjustable bushing comprises a cylindrical body having a liner installed therewithin. The liner is smaller in outer diameter than the inner diameter of the body creating a gap between the liner and the body so that the liner can shift relative to the body when engaging a leader pin. The liner is held in place against an extending internal ledge of the body by a removable cap. In one form of the invention, compressible O-rings about the liner maintain the liner in a centered orientation in the body. In another form of the invention, a resilient member is employed to axially bias the liner to retain it in place.

  • Patent number: 5814357
Abstract: A core lifter system for a plastic injection mold, where one or more core blades is used to not only provide an undercut in the formed molded part, but also aid in ejecting the molded part from the mold. A blade retainer for the core blade is located in a support, with the support having a semi-circular socket shaped to engage a coupling end of the blade retainer. The blade retainer is immobily secured in the socket at a desired angle of inclination relative to the support.

  • Patent number: 5804226
Abstract: A bushing for retaining a knock out pin and a removable knock out pin assembly utilizing that bushing. The bushing has a pin holding portion composed of upstanding flexible arms engagable with a knock out pin, each of the arms having a lug for engaging the knock out pin. A retention ring is formed on the bottom of the bushing, the ring having an outwardly-extending flange for engaging an aperture in a plastic mold. The knock out pin has opposite grooves for accommodating the lugs of the bushing, the pin being removable by rotating the pin 90.degree. to disengage the lugs from the grooves so that the pin can be axially removed.

  • Patent number: 5762977
Abstract: A lock for guiding and aligning two mating portions of a mold. The lock comprises a guide member having a socket formed therein and a locking member which is shaped to be engaged in the socket. A self-purging feature is formed for purging of foreign material from the socket when the locking member and the socket are engaged. Typically, four of the locks are utilized for each mold, one lock being associated with each side of the mold.

  • Patent number: 5551864
Abstract: A core lifter system is provided for a plastic injection mold, particularly for use in a mold in which an undercut is to be formed in the molded part. The system has a core blade and a support for the core blade, with the support being formed to be mounted for linear translation on an ejector plate. The system is configured for fixedly retaining the core blade on the blade support at a desired angle of inclination of the blade relative to the support. In one form of the invention, the blade is adjustable, and pinned in place. In another form of the invention, a separate, inclined blade support is provided for each different angle of inclination desired for the blade, and the blade and the support are pinned together.

  • Patent number: 5368468
Abstract: An air-operated knockout device for plastic molds for assisting ejection of molded plastic parts from a mold. The knockout device has a body in which is installed a knockout pin. The knockout pin is normally retained within the body, but can be axially shifted to an extended position to physically eject a molded part from a mold. The knockout pin also includes an air bypass to assist the knockout pin in the ejection of the molded part.

  • Patent number: 5114334
Abstract: A spring member for use in a plastic mold for separating and cushioning parts of the mold, and returning ejector assemblies. The spring member is composed of a hollow cylindrical body with a spring-biased plunger extending a short distance from one end. The spring member is shaped to be installed within a bore in a surface in a mold, with only the plunger extending above the mold surface.

  • Patent number: 4929170
Abstract: An ejector blade for ejecting parts from injection molds. The ejector blade has an elongate shank portion with a slotted end therein, a flat blade portion having an end shaped to be engaged within the slot, and apertures through the engaged ends in registration with one another with a pin engaged in the apertures to join the shank and blade portions releasably so that different blade portions can be mounted on the shank portion. The pin is a slotted roll pin and the aperture in the shank portion is larger in diameter than the aperture in the blade portion in order to permit some movement between the blade and shank portions to accommodate variations in a mold in which the ejector blade is used.

  • Patent number: 4842508
Abstract: A device for inserting and withdrawing a core in plastic and die cast molds. A rotatable cylindrical nut is located within the hollow cylindrical interior of a support housing. The nut has a threaded inner cavity. A non-rotatable slide extends through an aperture in the housing, the slide having a threaded end engaging the threaded inner cavity. When the nut is rotated, the slide is either extended or retracted through the aperture depending on the direction of rotation of the nut. A mold core is affixed to the slide for insertion into and withdrawal of the core from the mold.

  • Patent number: 4515342
Abstract: A retainer for the laterally moveable slide of a mold for plastic parts. The retainer is positioned to hold the slide in a laterally offset position when the mold is open so that the mold can easily be reclosed without further adjustment of the mold parts. The retainer has a resilient, metal arm, a retention element at one end and a fastener passing through the other end to attach the retainer to a stationary part of the mold. The retention element engages the slide to hold the slide in place when the mold is opened.
