  • Publication number: 20230375729
Abstract: Radiation detectors include a radiation-sensitive semiconductor substrate and at least one asymmetric contact (i.e., a cathode electrode or anode electrode) that exhibits different blocking effect for charge carriers (i.e., holes and electrons) of opposite types. In one exemplary embodiment, a radiation detector includes a cathode electrode having a first metallic material having a work function that is ?4.6 over a first surface of the radiation-sensitive semiconductor substrate, and at least one anode electrode including a second metallic material having a work function that is <4.6 over a second surface of the radiation-sensitive semiconductor substrate. In other embodiments, at least one of the cathode electrode and/or the anode electrode(s) include a metallic material and a semiconductor material layer between the metallic material and the surface of the radiation-sensitive semiconductor substrate.

  • Patent number: 6936086
Abstract: A high conductivity particle filter provides a flow path to subject a fluid stream to a series of turns. The turns require an abrupt directional change for the fluid stream. Traps are positioned in proximity to the turns to capture particles, which have greater inertia than the fluid. The flow path may be a spiral or a series of parallel paths. A cross sectional area of the flow path may be progressively decreased to increase flow velocity and particle inertia.

  • Patent number: 6507156
Abstract: An active matrix electroluminescent device provides a gray scale display. The device comprises a first electrode layer including a plurality of individually addressable pixel electrodes, a second electrode layer, and a stack including at least a phosphor layer which produces light upon the application of an electric field across the phosphor layer and a dielectric layer. The stack is disposed between the first and second electrode layers. The second electrode layer is driven during the first subframe time period with a first illumination signal having a first amplitude. At least one of the set of the selected ones of the pixel electrodes is selected with data signals during a subsequent subframe time period of the frame.

  • Patent number: 5877735
Abstract: An active matrix electroluminescent device that includes a plurality of layers. A rearwardly disposed support layer supports the plurality of layers and an interface circuit. The interface circuit is electrically connected to row and column drivers by a plurality of first electrical lines. The drivers are electrically connected to the plurality of layers so as to enable pixels within the electroluminescent device to be selected. An interface controller is remotely located from the support layer and is electrically connected to the interface circuit by at least one second electrical line so as to indicate which pixels within the device to illuminate. The number of first electrical lines is greater than the number of the at least one second electrical line. In another embodiment of the present invention, the number of lines required to interconnect a passive thin film electroluminescent device with an interface controller can in a similar manner be reduced by including an interface circuit.
