  • Patent number: 4499816
Abstract: A discharge air assembly for use in a room air conditioning unit is disclosed. The discharge air assembly includes both horizontal and vertical louvers for directing the air being discharged in any direction. The horizontal louvers are mounted in V-shaped slots defined by a vertical support member and are secured thereto by a louver retainer which via frictional fit maintains the louvers in the desired position. Additionally, control knobs mounted for sliding displacement are utilized to effect rotational displacement of the vertical air deflectors. The entire assembly is arranged as a subassembly which can be mounted with any room air unit having a discharge opening of a selected size.

  • Patent number: 4434710
Abstract: Apparatus and a method are disclosed for mounting a grille assembly to a sleeve designed for installation of an air conditioning unit. Rotatable mounting channels are secured to brackets of the grille assembly and may be manipulated from the interior of the sleeve to allow the grille assembly to be secured to the sleeve from the interior of the building. The sleeve includes a sleeve flange coacting with the grille flange and a channel support member having notches for receiving the rotatable mounting channels of the grille assembly for affixing the grille assembly to the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4367635
Abstract: An air conditioning unit and a control box assembly incorporating as a portion thereof a power cord strain relief are disclosed. A portion of the front panel of the control box is bent into a clip portion parallel to the side panel of the control box. The power cord is mounted therebetween and a screw is utilized to displace the clip portion to secure the power cord between the side panel and the clip portion. An opening in the control box allows the power cord to exit therefrom while secured in position by the components of the control box assembly.

  • Patent number: 4197906
Abstract: Apparatus for joining a sheet to a structural member angled therefrom which includes forming an indented portion in the sheet as well as a slot such that a clip having a tail section, a body section and a head section may be inserted such that the tail section extends through the slot and the head section extends beyond the end of the sheet such that the head section and the tail section are on one side of the sheet and the body section is on the same side of the sheet as the indented portion. The clip head has a screw opening such that a screw may be inserted through the member to which the sheet is to be joined into the clip head. Upon tightening the screw a support surface on the clip tail engages the sheet at the slot and the screw threads engage the interior surface of the indented portion of the sheet thereby securing the sheet to the screw and consequently the member through which the screw extends.
