    Abstract: A shaft bearing or bushing includes a hydrodynamic wedge film lubricant pumping surface along one edge region and an essentially continuous cylindrical land surface along the other opposed edge region. Lubricant moves circumferentially along the pumping surface and axially along the continuous land surface. The bearing provides extensive surface area oil film support for the rotating shaft and may be optimized for supporting a specific shaft load distribution.
