Patent number: 11183348Abstract: A circuit breaker includes a vacuum interrupter having a closed position and an open position. The circuit breaker includes a linkage operatively coupled to and extending from the vacuum interrupter and a high-speed actuator operatively connected to the linkage. The high-speed actuator is operable to move the linkage by a repulsion force and cause the vacuum interrupter to move to the open position. The circuit breaker includes a decelerator with an integrated latch assembly operatively coupled to the high-speed actuator. The decelerator decelerates the repulsion force of the high-speed actuator and latches the actuator with the integrated latch assembly to maintain the vacuum interrupter in the open position.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2020Date of Patent: November 23, 2021Assignee: Eaton Intelligent Power LimitedInventors: Brad Robert Leccia, Tyler Holp, Xin Zhou, Steven Zhenghong Chen

Patent number: 11069495Abstract: A drive mechanism is for a vacuum switching apparatus. The vacuum switching apparatus has a stationary contact and a movable contact structured to move into and out of engagement with the stationary contact in order to connect and disconnect power, respectively. The drive mechanism includes a drive rod structured to drive the movable contact into and out of engagement with the stationary contact, the drive rod being movable along a longitudinal axis, and a number of toggle assemblies each having a component and a biasing element coupled to the component. The component is coupled to the drive rod. The biasing element is structured to bias the drive rod in a direction not coinciding with the longitudinal axis.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2019Date of Patent: July 20, 2021Assignee: EATON INTELLIGENT POWER LIMITEDInventor: Brad Robert Leccia

Patent number: 10991533Abstract: The present disclosure provides a conductive member for a circuit breaker high voltage portion conductor assembly, the conductive member including a body with a transfer portion and a coupling portion. The body transfer portion has an electro-thermally efficient contour. That is, the body transfer portion has an electrically efficient contour and a thermally efficient contour. The body transfer portion includes a number of slots defining fins. In this configuration, the body transfer portion distributes current generally evenly across a cross-sectional area of the conductive member body. Further, the fins provide heat dissipation via convection.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2017Date of Patent: April 27, 2021Assignee: EATON INTELLIGENT POWER LIMITEDInventors: Douglas Michael Brandt, Brad Robert Leccia, Richard Blaine Frye, IV, Zachary Ryan Jenkins
