  • Publication number: 20040110026
Abstract: An electroluminescent (EL) coating system is applied to a substrate. The EL coating system includes a color-providing film layer applied to said substrate, a mid-coat film layer applied to the color-providing film layer, and a clearcoat film layer applied to the mid-coat film layer. The color-providing film layer includes an EL phosphor.

  • Patent number: 5973097
Abstract: The present invention relates to a coating composition and a pigment dispersant comprising aldimine having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is alkyl, aryl, cycloaliphatic or substituted alkyl, aryl, cycloaliphatic or heterocyclic group, and R.sub.2 is monomeric or polymeric aliphatic, aromatic, arylaliphatic or cycloaliphatic group which may contain O, N, S, or Si.The coating composition further comprises:b) an isocyanate compound having ubetdione functionality,c) at least one moisture absorbing compound, andd) acid catalyst, wherein the coating composition demonstrates increased pot life and decreased dry time.

  • Patent number: 5922804
Abstract: A method for reducing the volatile organic content of coating compositions wherein first, the ketimine of acetone is formed by reacting acetone and a ketimine having the formula ##STR1## wherein n is 1 to 4, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may be alkyl aryl, cycloaliphatic or substituted alkyl, aryl, or cycloaliphatic group. R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may be the same or different, with the proviso that R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are not both CH.sub.3. R.sub.3 is an aliphatic, aromatic arylaliphatic or cycloaliphatic group, which may also contain O, N, S or Si. The ketimine of acetone is subsequently reacted with at least one isocyanate functional crosslinking resin.
