    Abstract: A heated utility knife is disclosed for heating a material to be cut in order to soften the material before cutting the material. The heated utility knife is made of a knife portion that has a blade with a distal cutting edge, and a heat source configured to direct heat to a region adjacent the cutting edge. The heat source has a head portion which sits below the cutting blade. Pulling the cutting edge across a material to be cut allows heat from said heat source to be directed to the material to be cut to soften the material prior to cutting.
