  • Publication number: 20230380887
Abstract: Devices, methods, and systems for the treatment of tissue using energy delivery. Specifically, certain embodiments may be used for the treatment of lung tissue, such as lung nodules, using RF ablation, via a catheter provided with a first electrode attached to a distal end of the catheter, wherein the first electrode is hollow, wherein the first electrode comprises a piercing tip configured to pierce through an airway wall and a second electrode received in a movable manner within the first electrode, wherein the second electrode is extendable from the first electrode to form a first extended configuration.

  • Publication number: 20230055249
Abstract: A medical device system for the delivery of energy to a region of a patient's anatomy is provided. An introducer tube defines a lumen therein and bears a first electrode. A second electrode is movable within the lumen between a retracted position and an extended position. In the retracted position, the second electrode is substantially disposed within the lumen. In the extended position, the second electrode extends at least partially beyond the distal end of the introducer tube. In one form, the introducer tube is configured to substantially hold the second electrode within the lumen in a predetermined orientation in the extended position, and the introducer tube prevents the second electrode from substantially rotating within the lumen of the introducer tube during movement into the extended position. In one form, the introducer tube is more flexible in a first plane than in a second plane.

  • Publication number: 20220022775
Abstract: Embodiments of a sizing device that can be used to measure the size of airways lumens, such as those connected to lungs. The sizing device can have different expandable elements in order to accurately and consistently measure the particular dimensions of a lumen. In some embodiments, markings viewable by a user can be used to determine the particular size.

  • Publication number: 20170172722
Abstract: Devices and methods for occluding airways in at least one direction are disclosed. In some cases, the devices include anchoring mechanisms configured to keep an operative portion of the device (e.g., a valve) in position along a length of a lumen in which the device is deployed. The anchoring mechanisms can include anchors configured to settle into the lumen walls with little or no axial movement of the operative portion of the device. In some embodiments, the anchoring mechanisms include a secondary set of anchors configured to engage with the lumen wall to reduce, inhibit, or prevent axial movement of the operative portion of the device when the primary anchors settle into the walls of the lumen.

  • Publication number: 20150080714
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include devices, systems, and methods for implanting and locating traceable markers in a region of a patient's body such as a lung, and in particular lung nodules which may be difficult to locate using traditional means. Further embodiments describe devices, systems, and methods that may be used to treat regions in the lung such as lung nodules with various treatment modalities including heating, microwave irradiation, chemical treatment, and which may be used in conjunction with embodiments of the traceable markers described herein.

  • Publication number: 20110201956
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods for diagnosing physiological parameters of the lungs and treating associated medical conditions are disclosed herein. In particular, certain embodiments permit detection of air flow in lung passageways, air leaks, gas concentration (in particular oxygen), and temperature measurements. Measurements obtained using the devices, systems, and methods disclosed herein may also be used to determine optimal treatment sites for medical conditions such as emphysema, COPD, or lung volume reduction.

  • Patent number: 6827086
Abstract: The invention provides for treating deleterious body tissue located within healthy body tissue by isolating the deleterious tissue from blood, air, and fluid communication. The device includes two structures, each having a corresponding circumferential surface arranged to circumscribe the deleterious body tissue. When the first and second circumferential surfaces are brought together in an aligned relationship with the deleterious body tissue between the structures, the two circumferential surfaces co-act to isolate the deleterious body tissue from communication with the healthy body tissue. The deleterious tissue is resected according to the invention by allowing it to become ischemic and necrotic, or by excision.
