Patent number: 11788809Abstract: An apparatus for loading cartridges into a magazine comprises a setting mechanism including a sleeve, a body, a setting tool, and a link. The body may be slidingly disposed about the sleeve so that the body and the sleeve can slide relative to one another along a sliding axis. The body may translate between an upper position and a lower position along the sliding axis. A first end of the setting tool may be pivotally coupled to the sleeve for relative rotation between the setting tool and the sleeve about a forward axis. The setting tool rotates about the forward axis as the body translates between the upper position and the lower position.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2019Date of Patent: October 17, 2023Assignee: Vista Outdoor Operations LLCInventors: Brandon Thomas Hefer, Brandon Karl Trostrud, Sean Higgs

Patent number: 10876810Abstract: A paintball pod for filling a hopper of a paintball gun with paintballs includes an annular collar with a valve that selectively closes an outlet opening of the pod. An alignment ring is connected around the hopper inlet. When the pod and hopper inlet are operatively aligned, the valve opens (automatically) and paintballs are dispensed from the pod into the hopper. The collar also includes a ratchet member connected to the valve and lock member(s) (e.g., magnetic lock(s)) that engages the ratchet member to retain the valve in a closed position. When the collar is operatively aligned with the alignment ring a magnetic force is applied by the alignment ring on the lock member, causing the lock member to retract and allowing the ratchet member to rotate to a home position and open the valve member.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2020Date of Patent: December 29, 2020Assignee: HK Army Inc.Inventors: Jason Jeremiah Pineda, Brandon Karl Trostrud

Patent number: 10533817Abstract: A magazine loader for loading cartridges into a magazine includes a base and a housing supported by the base. The base and the housing support a bowl for receiving a plurality of cartridges. A wheel is disposed inside the bowl cavity defined by the bowl. Cartridges are circulated in the bowl upon rotation of the wheel and exit the bowl via an aperture while the cartridges are assuming either a first orientation or a second orientation. A series of cartridges having random orientations are fed to a sorter of the magazine loader. The sorter is operable to receive a first cartridge and rotate the first cartridge clockwise 90 degrees if the random directional orientation of the first cartridge is the first directional orientation and/or rotate the first cartridge counterclockwise 90 degrees if the random directional orientation of the first cartridge is the second directional orientation.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2018Date of Patent: January 14, 2020Assignee: Vista Outdoor Operations LLCInventors: Brandon Thomas Hefer, Brandon Karl Trostrud
