    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for secure communication techniques in a communication system. The system can include a first device which communicates with a second device over a channel. A security association can be established during a first session between the devices via an asymmetric key exchange. The security association comprises a Traffic Encryption Key (TEK) and a first state vector. The TEK comprises a shared, secret symmetric key. The security association is stored in each of the devices for use during a second session between the devices to expedite security association establishment during call set-up of the second session. The security association can be associated with the second device in the first device, and with the first device in the second device. An updated state vector can be generated at the first device. A second session can be established between the first device and the second device by using the TEKs from the first session and the updated state vector.

The image capture software routine can use the camera feature to automatically generate one or more time spaced images. The motion detection software routine can detect motion based upon differences between the time spaced images. The motion detection software routine can selectively utilize a multiple algorithms.

    Abstract: A calibration system utilizing existing location techniques for a global radio telecommunication system 10 autonomously calibrates the communication system's location system by routing precision location data through system 10. Calibration reduces system errors by allowing time slots to remain narrow. The precision data is carried by existing commands throughout the system to measure location errors inserted by satellites 12. A gateway 16 compiles and evaluates received calibration data and determines when to update all gateways 16 with new satellite variance data tables 435. The calibration system provides early warning of degradation of system components and long-term analysis of system performance.

    Abstract: In a packetized communication system, packets are dispatched to a receiving node (10) for reassembly and presentation to a user. Packets propagating over dynamic paths have propagation variations between subsequent packets. Interactive packetized voice communication systems mandate that end-to-end delays be minimized. This results in voice gaps between an on-time synthesized voice data (602"') and a subsequent delayed synthesized voice data (603"'). Voice gaps are temporarily patched with voice prediction samples and end-to-end timing is adjusted to minimized prediction samples. When packets are lost in the network, prediction packets are substituted and annunciated to a user until valid packets are received.

    Abstract: A fast pattern correlator and method comprising received bitstream data blocks split into estimation blocks and correlation blocks. Correlation blocks are extracted and compared to an expected pattern using a correlation part starting location estimator and correlator. The number of bit errors resulting is compared to a predetermined maximum in a threshold comparator. Extracting the correlation blocks includes indexing consecutive estimation blocks using an estimation part correlation table and predicting consistent correlation block starting locations. The correlation blocks are correlated with the expected pattern to produce an exclusive-OR result, which, used with a bit-error table, can be used to find a number of bit errors in the correlation.
