Patent number: 11577543Abstract: The present invention provide a multi-layered heat transfer sheet comprising a plurality of distinct pieces forming one or more consecutive patterns that form shapes or objects having discontinuous peripheries, as well as a method for producing and/or making said item. The method for forming the heat transfer decorations includes ablating one or more layers of a heat transfer sheet using a defocused laser to define at least one plurality of discrete pieces that together define a heat transfer decoration. A single pass of the defocused laser may ablate the one or more layers of the heat transfer sheet so as to define the discrete pieces.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2019Date of Patent: February 14, 2023Assignee: STAHLS' INC.Inventors: Fred Ciaramitaro, Brett Stahl

Patent number: 9596899Abstract: A network device including document, design, aggregation and production texture modules. The document module generates a 2D design document that includes non-aggregated texture islands (NTIs). Each of the NTIs corresponds to a pattern of a product. The NTIs include at least two versions of one of the NTIs. The design module adds an artwork image across at least two of the NTIs. The aggregation module aggregates the at least two versions of the NTIs and generates a final aggregated texture image based on the 2D design document. The final aggregated texture image includes final aggregated texture islands (FATIs). Each of the FATIs is distinctive from the other ones of the FATIs. The production texture module, based on the final aggregated texture image, generates a production texture that includes islands, which are scaled to match an actual size of a respective pattern to be transferred on fabric for the product.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2015Date of Patent: March 21, 2017Assignee: GroupeSTAHLInventors: Brett Stahl, Clint Phillips, Matias Leandro Capeletto

Publication number: 20080118705Abstract: A process for cutting at least one indicia adapted to be applied to an object includes providing a cutting device capable of cutting multiple depths; providing a material having an applicable layer and a supporting carrier layer; positioning the material relative to the cutting device; employing the cutting device to make at least one indicia cut through only the applicable layer of an outline of at least one indicia and at least one cavity cut through both the applicable layer and the carrier layer within the outline of the indicia to form a cavity surrounded by the indicia; and subsequent to the indicia cut, employing the cutting device to make a border cut through both the applicable layer and the carrier layer beyond the indicia to form an outline of a polygonal shape around the indicia. An indicia material made by the process is also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 20, 2006Publication date: May 22, 2008Inventor: Brett A. Stahl

Patent number: 6875395Abstract: The present invention involves an applique for applying a fabric pattern to an object. The applique comprises a laminate having an outer periphery to define a first predetermined shape corresponding to the fabric pattern and has etches formed adjacent the periphery to simulate an appearance of stitching. In one embodiment, the laminate comprises a top fabric layer and a bottom fabric layer with a periphery, wherein the bottom fabric layer periphery corresponds to the outer periphery. The top fabric layer is a strip attached to the bottom layer, wherein the top fabric layer is disposed adjacent the outer periphery. The laminate has etches formed on the top fabric layer so that the top fabric layer simulates the appearance of stitching. In another embodiment, the laminate comprises a top fabric layer and a bottom fabric layer, wherein the top fabric layer has a second predetermined shape. The top fabric layer is attached to the bottom fabric layer and disposed inward from the outer periphery.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2002Date of Patent: April 5, 2005Assignee: Stahls' Inc.Inventors: Brent J. Kisha, Brett A. Stahl

Publication number: 20040197536Abstract: Graphics for heat sealing attachment to fabrics and hard surfaces are made by flooding a release paper with screen printing ink and then covering the ink with a thermally responsive adhesive after which the ink and adhesive are kiss-cut in reverse to the release paper preferably by a laser cutter whose power is set to singe the cut at the adhesive to highlight the indicia and facilitate weeding; the ink flooding may be arranged in multiple congruent patches spaced from the edges of the release paper so that upon cutting the paper into sub-sheets, uniform margins are provided about each patch, and the indicia may be accurately positioned in each patch.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 2, 2004Publication date: October 7, 2004Inventor: Brett A. Stahl
