Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed which relate to conveying gestures associated with commands by displaying images that a user associates with a gesture. Upon performance of the gesture, the commands are carried out by a device, system, etc. For example, a mobile device displays a gesture icon of a hammer. The gesture icon is labeled with a command. When a user makes a downward motion with the forearm, the mobile device senses that gesture through a gesture sensor. The mobile device interprets the gesture and executes the command in the label of the gesture icon.

Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a media server, a request to create a media content summary. The request includes a user-specified criterion. The method also includes generating resized segments by automatically changing a size of each of one or more segments of media content until a total size of the resized segments satisfies the user-specified criterion and including the resized segments in the media content summary.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a controller to collect data indicative of temporal actions initiated by a group of users during presenting a media program. The data indicative of the temporal actions are collected in a collective metadata archive. Portions of the media program are identified based on metadata for which a number of occurrences of the temporal actions exceeds a threshold number of occurrences. A compacted presentation of the portions of the media program is prepared based on the metadata. The compacted presentation includes the portions of the media program arranged consecutively. The computer implemented method includes selecting at least one segment of the identified segments of the media content for inclusion in a media content summary. The system generally includes at least one server coupled to the communications network and configured for receiving at least one annotation from a first group member corresponding to media content from the communications network; adding the at least one annotation to a database; accessing a list of members of the group, each member of the group having a user profile stored in memory; and automatically sending a notification to at least a second member of the group upon receipt of each annotation.
