  • Patent number: 8543881
Abstract: An apparatus and method for high throughput unified turbo decoding comprising loading data from a first data window; computing a first forward state metric using the data from the first data window; storing the first forward state metric in a memory; computing a first reverse state metric using the data from the first data window; storing the first reverse state metric in the memory; and computing the log likelihood ratio (LLR) of the first forward state metric and the first reverse state metric. In one aspect, the above-mentioned steps are repeated with data from a second data window. In another aspect, extrinsic information for the first data window associated with the unified turbo decoding is computed.

  • Patent number: 5259135
Abstract: An improved mode of construction is provided for a display device of the kind comprising an array of triangular-section slats rotated in synchronism in 120.degree. steps to present repeatedly to view, in sequence, three compound display surfaces, each carrying a respective poster or the like. In embodiments of the invention, each slat has a respective bearing and driving module with a respective rotary member releasably drivingly engaging the slat and with a respective cam, driving the rotary member and driven in turn by a driving shaft, passing through the cams of the bearing and driving modules of all of the slats. The bearing and driving modules are received in a stack within a hollow extrusion which forms one side member of a frame of the display device. The opposite side member of the frame receives a stack of bearing members rotatably supporting the opposite ends of the respective slats.

  • Patent number: 4912866
Abstract: A display structure is disclosed comprising rectangular panels each having at its upper edge a cross member (7) providing an upwardly open channel (80) which receives a central formation (68) of a retaining member (54) which provides, at its upper end, on opposite sides, respective downwardly open channels (60). In a lowered position of the retaining member, the outer wall (62) of each channel (60) extends on the outer side of the member (7) and can serve to retain the upper edge of a respective display card fitted in the panel. The releasing member can be raised, then tilted, while being held captive on the member (7) by an enlarged lower end part (76, 78) of the central formation which cannot pass between flanges (82) on member (7), to a position to one side of the respective side face of member (7) to allow vertical insertion or removal of the display card or the like.

  • Patent number: 4684425
Abstract: A panel for use as a temporary room divider or screen is formed by adhesively securing to one face of a first rectangular sheet of rigid material, along each of two opposing edges, one face of a tongue of an edging strip having a body providing an outwardly open channel, and fitting a second similar rectangular sheet over and in register with the first sheet, so that two opposing edges of the second sheet also lie along the edging strips. The tongues of the edging strips are stuck to the sheets, and the sheets stuck to one another, by double sided adhesive tapes of appropriate thicknesses. After the two sheets have been stuck together and to said edging strips, cloth or the like covering material is stuck to the outer face of each sheet and surplus edge portions of the cloth or the like are tucked between the edging strips and the adjacent edges of the sheets of rigid material.

  • Patent number: 4653563
Abstract: Stabilizing means is disclosed for a structure comprising a plurality of rectangular panels each comprising two transverse members and two uprights, extensions of which, in the form of spigots, project beyond the transverse members at upper and lower ends of the frame and engage in sockets provided by connecting members. The stabilizing means comprises a vertical rail carrying a plurality of connector elements providing sockets receiving spigots of adjacent panels.

  • Patent number: 4606394
Abstract: A barrier or personnel guidance system is disclosed which utilizes vertical posts and horizontal rails each comprising an elongate central member formed, for example by a metal extrusion covered by cladding, formed for example by a plastics extrusion or extrusions, the central member and the cladding having complementary inter-engaging retaining formations. The central member comprises a central passage and lateral channels in which can be engaged various ancillary members whereby posts and rails can be interconnected, panels fitted, gate assemblies constructed and the like constructional facilities afforded.

  • Patent number: 4569143
Abstract: A display device comprises a plurality of frames each comprising two uprights and two cross members, bounding a rectangular space in which a rectangular flexible sheet is supported in tension by tensioning devices displaced in the corners of the frame. Laterally adjoining frames are pivotally connected together by links and engage one another via masking gear segments mounted on the tensioning devices. Vertically superimposed frames are connected together by connectors each connecting, end to end, the lower end of one upright of an upper frame and the axially aligned upper end of a lower frame. Each connector comprises an upper peg, a lower peg and an axially slidable and rotatable sleeve captive on the upper peg and capable of being screwed down over the lower peg.

  • Patent number: 4533122
Abstract: A barrier system is disclosed in which uprights comprise columns, each surmounted by a head member including a slotted member affording a plurality of longitudinally extending slots opening onto an upper axial end face of the slotted member, and a cap which can be screwed down into engagement with said end face to close off the axial ends of the slots, the slots open onto the periphery of the slotted member via restricted throat portions, so that radial withdrawal of fitments of complementary form, for example provided on the ends of horizontal barrier rails, can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 4444240
Abstract: A foldable device is disclosed, particularly suitable for presenting exhibition displays or the like, which comprises a plurality of generally rectangular planar members, pivotally connected end-to-end in such a way that, in a folded condition of the device, the planar members lie in face to face engagement with one another. The pivotal connection between any two pivotally connected planar members comprises connecting members each pivotally connected with both the planar members for pivoting about respective axes co-planar with the planar members, and inter-meshing gear segments carried on the planar members and concentric with the respective axes.

  • Patent number: 4443911
Abstract: An adjustable structure comprises two panels 24 carrying at adjacent edges respective members 11, 13, each having ribs 14 and grooves inter-engaging with one another after the fashion of gear teeth so that the members 11, 13, can roll relative to one another about respective axes parallel with the panel edges. Each member 11, 13, carries within a respective longitudinal passage 33 resilient spindle elements 35 disposed substantially coaxially with the member 11, 13, and resiliently displaceable, at least in part, transversely of said axis. The members 35 are held together by connecting links 46 providing hooks receiving respective resilient spindle elements 35 of the two members, slots 32 being formed in the members 11, 13, for passage of the links. The configuration of the links 46 and the spindle elements 35 is such that resilient displacement of spindle elements 35 transversely of their axes, towards one another, is necessary to apply the links to or detach the links from the spindle elements.
