Patent number: 10514714Abstract: A method for heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems is described. In one embodiment, the method includes measuring a temperature of a first room of a building via a first thermometer placed in the first room and measuring a temperature of a second room of the building via a second thermometer placed in the second room and receiving the temperature of the first room via a first data communication device communicatively coupled to a first HVAC register in the first room and receiving the temperature of the second room via a second data communication device communicatively coupled to a second HVAC register in the second room. In some cases, the first data communication device is configured to communicate data between the first thermometer and a central automation controller and the second data communication device is configured to communicate data between the second thermometer and the central automation controller.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2018Date of Patent: December 24, 2019Assignee: Vivint, Inc.Inventors: Brian Call, Nicholas Brown, Jason Carter, Darren Noble, Brandon Hatch, Brandon Bunker

Publication number: 20170193798Abstract: According to at least one embodiment, a computer-implemented method to communicate refuse reminders to a user of an automation system is disclosed. A proximity of at least one refuse bin to a base station may be detected at a predetermined time period prior to the refuse removal day using one or more sensors. The user may be alerted to move the at least one refuse bin to a removal location based at least in part on the detecting. In some embodiments, the refuse removal scheduled may be linked with the automation system, wherein the refuse removal schedule may comprise a schedule of refuse pick-up days for a first category of refuse.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2016Publication date: July 6, 2017Inventors: Brian Call, Nicholas Brown, Jason Carter, Darren Noble

Patent number: 8887968Abstract: An apparatus for capping a jar includes a plastic flat plate having a top and a bottom and a depending skirt with internal threadings and a hole in the flat plate. A measured liquor pouring spout inserted through the hole in the plate has a channel for flow of liquid and a cap sized and shaped to cover a liquor bottle with a lower skirt that abuts the top of the flat plate. The spout has a lower stem with a first radial flange under the cap abutting the top of the flat plate and a second radial flange under the cap spaced below the first radial flange. A gasket on the lower stem below the flat plate closes portions of the hole that surround the lower stem and secures the stem in position by fitting between the second radial flange and the bottom of the flat plate.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2011Date of Patent: November 18, 2014Inventor: Brian Call
