    Abstract: A monitor for measuring the pressure in the cuff on a tracheal tube is clipped onto a coupling at the end of an inflation indicator balloon that communicates with the cuff. The monitor has a silicon strain gauge pressure sensor and a spring that urges the sensor resiliently against one side of the balloon, the other side of the balloon resting on a base plate. The monitor has a numeric display connected to the sensor on which a representation of pressure in the indicator balloon and hence in the cuff is displayed.
