  • Patent number: 5927768
Abstract: A non-handed actuator for window locks, including a base securable to the window frame, a handle secured to the base for pivoting about a first axis through an angle of approximately X degrees, an oppositely extending drive link secured for pivoting with the handle, and a connecting link securable to the lock control member of a window lock. The connecting link is pivotable relative to the drive link and includes a spacing member and a connecting member. The connecting member is securable to the lock control member and pivotable relative to the spacing member between limit positions approximately 180 degrees apart. Tabs on the spacing member abut the connecting member when the connecting member is at either of the limit positions, with the connecting link being pivotable relative to the drive link through an angle of approximately 2X degrees, where X is between 140 and 180.

  • Patent number: 5794310
Abstract: A connection for adjustably holding a sash arm and a support arm in pivotally connected relationship, including a sash arm having a first cylindrical opening, a support arm having a second cylindrical opening at one end, and a stud. The stud includes a pivot portion with a cylindrical shaft extending through the second cylindrical opening, a rivet portion extending from one end of the cylindrical shaft through the first cylindrical opening and eccentric to the pivot portion cylindrical shaft, and a head on an end of the rivet portion spaced from the cylindrical shaft wherein the head and the one end of the cylindrical shaft engage opposite sides of the sash arm to frictionally secure the stud against pivoting relative to the sash arm. The first cylindrical opening includes a countersunk hole on the side of the sash arm attachable to a window sash, wherein the rivet portion head is formed substantially entirely in the countersunk hole.

  • Patent number: 5613277
Abstract: A hinge for supporting a window sash relative to a window frame including a track (12) connected to the window frame, a support arm (16) pivotally secured to the track, a shoe (22) slidably received in the track (12) and a sash arm connected to the window sash and pivotally supported relative to both the shoe and the support arm (14). The shoe includes a first side (38) which lies adjacent the track (12) when the shoe is received in the track. The shoe further includes a recess (40) in the first side (38) and a pad (42) integrally formed with the shoe body (22). The pad is received in a recess when the shoe is received in the track.

  • Patent number: 5040267
Abstract: A casement hinge is provided having a track mounted to a window frame, a sash arm mounted to a window sash and connected to a track pivot at one end, and a support arm pivotally connected to the sash arm at one end and having a track pivot at the other end. A block with a serrated surface defines one of the track pivots, and a rack secured to the track includes cooperating serrated surfaces for fixing the block to a selected position on the track. The rack and the block include cooperating surfaces allowing sag correction by wedging a tool between the cooperating surfaces. A tab and slot interconnection for centering the block relative to the rack during installation is provided where the tab is breakable from the member to which it is fixed when correcting sag. The track is formed with a longitudinal section mounted to the window frame, the longitudinal section having a guide portion on which a shoe slides and a mounting portion spaced from the window frame so as to be offset from the guide portion.
