    Abstract: A trouble light is provided with a metal protective cage which surrounds a light bulb and has planar surfaces. When energized by a separate switch, an electromagnet within the handle generates a magnetic field which magnetizes the protective cage, enabling it to be mounted to any convenient ferrous metal surface, such as the hood of a car.
