  • Patent number: 5538454
Abstract: Playthings, such as exercise and entertainment hoops, children's bats, batons and jump ropes, are provided with an elongated sheath of fabric tightly adhering thereto, the fabric sheath being available in a variety of decorative patterns at a low cost. This enables the base product to be mass produced in an inexpensive way in accordance with conventional practice, but then to provide such products with individualized appearance with the fabric covering.

  • Patent number: 5303932
Abstract: A game apparatus, especially adapted for children's volleyball includes a net, a pair of standard supporting the ends of the net, and a pair of bases each supporting one of the standard. The standards are formed from two plastic interfitting and telescoping tubes so that the net is height adjustable in a simple way, the two tubes frictionally inter-engaging with one another. The net is provided with integral sleeves at each end which fit over the upper tubes of the standards. The standards are supported in the basis in such way so that they extend upwardly and outwardly, diverging the bottom to the top in an outward direction. The bases are hollow and capable of receiving ballast, e.g. water or sand, and retaining the ballast without leakage. In addition, the larger portion of each base extends inwardly toward the center of the net from the standard, with a smaller portion extending outwardly from the standard.

  • Patent number: 5224652
Abstract: A water shower device for spraying water to entertain and amuse children has a device at its bottom end for receiving water from a garden hose and for anchoring a hollow tube in the vertical direction. The hollow tube contains one or more crinkle plastic strips exhibiting neon edge glow, and at its upper end has a nozzle which carries a pinwheel, the pinwheel also displaying neon edge glow. The nozzle is a one-piece structure having downwardly ad inwardly directed struts which meet at a central nose and define openings through which the water spurts so as to impinge upon and drive the pinwheel, the pinwheel in turn disbursing the water droplets over 360.degree..

The fluid in combination with the transparent tubing forms an attractive and novel jumping device.A rigid center section is also provided of a light transmitting plastic which contains a fluid and light refracting or reflecting particles. The center section creates an attractive appearance and adds interest to the device.Different embodiments of bearings or rotary connections between end caps or handles and the flexible loop center section or jump rope are also disclosed.A sleeve surrounding a rigid center section, which permits rotation between the sleeve and the center rigid section is shown. The sleeve is gripped by the user's hand and the center rod rotates within the sleeve as the jumping hoop rotates around the user.
