    Abstract: A transfer sheet capable of applying a colored pattern to a final support material through the application of heat and pressure. The transfer sheet includes a carrier sheet having a colored pattern printed on a surface thereof. A digitally controlled color printer is used to print a colored pattern on the surface of the carrier sheet. A layer of white colored material is printed over at least the color pattern with a digitally controlled color printer. A layer of glue is deposited over the layer of white colored material. The layer of glue may also be printed over the white colored material by the digitally controlled color printer, or by a separate device, if required.

A photoreceptor is utilized which is responsive to two beams of a dual wavelength laser diode exposure device or of Light Emitting Diode (LED) exposure devices operating at two different wavelengths. One of the light beams emitted by the exposure device is utilized to imagewise discharge the photoreceptor through the magenta and yellow toners while the other beam is used to imagewise expose the photoreceptor through the cyan toner.

    Abstract: A method and system for informing a user about characteristics of a marking material cartridge in a printing system. The system calculates a number of pixels being rendered in a present job and calculates an amount of marking material used to render the present job. The system also calculates a total area coverage to date for the marking material cartridge. Form this information an expected number of pages that the marking material cartridge can render is determined and displayed. The system determines a date when marking material in the marking material cartridge will be depleted and displays the date. The system also calculates an average coverage amount for a page being presently rendered. It can also calculate per page costs of the page currently being printed, and the pages printed to date. Additionally, the cost benefits of draft or other reduced print quality modes can be calculated and displayed. The method and system is equally applicable to black and white or color printing.

    Abstract: A corona discharge device including a corona discharge electrode in contact or closely spaced from a conductive shield electrode, the discharge electrode comprising a conductive wire coated with a relatively thick dielectric material so as to prevent the flow of conduction current therethrough. When the electrode is spaced from the shield, it is supported along its length on a dielectric surface and when it is in contact with the shield, the shield itself may provide the lengthwise support for the wire, or the support may alternatively be provided by a dielectric substrate on which the shield is carried. The delivery of charge to the photoconductive surface is accomplished by means of electric field separation of charges produced by the discharge electrode. These charges are produced by an alternating voltage applied to the discharge electrode. The flow of charge to the surface to be charged is regulated by means of a d.c. voltage bias applied to the shield electrode.
