  • Patent number: 9783748
Abstract: One exemplary embodiment can be a process for producing a diesel fuel. The process can include providing a hydrocarbon feed to a residue processing unit. Generally, the residue processing unit includes a solvent deasphalting zone, a hydroprocessing zone, and a hydroprocessing fractionation zone. The process can further include recycling at least a portion of an unconverted oil stream from the hydroprocessing fractionation zone, and sending one part of the at least a portion of the recycled unconverted oil stream to the unconverted oil fractionation zone providing a light unconverted oil stream downstream of the solvent deasphalting zone and a heavy unconverted oil stream to the solvent deasphalting zone.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 9, 2014
Date of Patent: October 10, 2017
    Assignee: UOP LLC
Inventors: Craig Harvey, Haiyan Wang, B. Daniel Thomas, Brian Ganyu, Jagannathan Govindhakannan
  • Patent number: 9663732
Abstract: One exemplary embodiment can be a process for controlling operations of a residue process unit. The process may include analyzing an overhead stream from an extraction column in a solvent deasphalting zone to determine a density of the overhead stream, and adjusting conditions of the extraction column in response to the density determined for the overhead stream depending on the operating constraints of one or more downstream hydroprocessing zones.
