Abstract: A method of processing a transaction between a customer and a merchant includes receiving from a mobile device of the customer or from another device of the customer an indication of consent to perform a cardless payment transaction with the merchant, receiving from the mobile device an indication that the customer is within a predetermined distance of the merchant, after receiving both the indication of consent and the indication that the customer is within the predetermined distance, sending to a computer system of the merchant an indication of the presence of the customer and personal identifying information for the customer, receiving data indicating a transaction between the customer and the merchant, and submitting the transaction to a financial service for authorization.

Abstract: A system for benefits management that includes a benefit metaphor engine that can apply a user-facing metaphor over the benefit plan, where characteristics of the benefit plan are used to identify rule sets to generate an appropriate metaphor. The metaphor presents information about the benefit plan within the metaphor setting, and allows for the user to make decisions within the metaphor that affect the benefit plan outside of the metaphor.

Abstract: A wearable apparatus for providing personal safety contains an enclosure, a microprocessor, a global positioning system (GPS) module, a push button, and a wireless communication device. Based on the enclosure, the apparatus can be worn around the neck or on the wrist. Since the GPS module, the microprocessor, and the wireless communication device are housed within the enclosure, the apparatus can also be used as a handheld device. During an emergency, the user utilizes the push button to transmit an emergency alert via the wireless communication device. The emergency alert will contain location coordinates that are obtained through the GPS module. The emergency alert is sent to a designated recipient so that the user of the apparatus can receive assistance within a short time.
