  • Publication number: 20040221639
Abstract: A method for coining holographic images or holograms in a contoured or tapered surface of hard metal articles such as automotive products and sporting and fitness products including ball bats using a split die having an interior surface mirroring the contoured or tapered surface of the metal article.

  • Publication number: 20040061357
Abstract: An aluminum rear case assembly (12) for a trailer body (10) includes a rectangular frame assembly (16). The frame assembly (16) includes an extruded aluminum top rail (22), an extruded aluminum bottom rail (24), and a pair of extruded aluminum side rails (26) connecting the top and bottom rails (22, 24). The top, bottom, and side rails (22, 24, 26) are joined to define the rectangular shape. The frame assembly (16) has an exposed side (18) facing outward from the trailer body (10) and an internal side (20) facing inward toward the cargo area defined by the trailer body (10) and attached to the rear end of the trailer body (10).

  • Patent number: 6073293
Abstract: A light-weight, corrosion-resistant, readily installed bridge deck is formed of modular deck panels spliced to each other on site. Each of the deck panels is shop-fabricated by longitudinally welding flanges of adjacently placed multi-void extruded aluminum alloy structural elements. Transfer splices of longitudinally adjacent elongate elements are made by providing shear elements connecting individual elongate structural elements of each deck panel end-to-end prior to longitudinal welding of adjacent elongate elements, with the end joints between the elongate elements being arrayed in a staggered manner. A safety rail system is mounted to run alongside and above outer edges of the finished bridge deck mounted to a system of support girders.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 3, 1997
Date of Patent: June 13, 2000
    Assignee: Reynolds Metals Company
Inventors: John J. Ahlskog, John Randolph Kissell, Brian J. Malloy, Adam D. Matteo, Glen A. Taylor, Kurt P. Thompson, George B. Tyler, Roman Wolchuk

  • Patent number: 5867854
Abstract: A bridge structure includes a light-weight, corrosion-resistant, readily installed bridge deck formed of modular deck panels spliced to each other on site. The deck panels are preferably shop-fabricated by longitudinal welding of adjacently placed multi-void elongate structural elements. Longitudinally adjacent elongate elements are spliced by providing internally disposed shear elements prior to longitudinal welding of adjacent spliced elongate elements, with the end joints between spliced elongate elements being arrayed in a staggered manner. A safety rail system is mounted to run alongside and above outer edges of the finished bridge deck mounted to a system of support girders.
