  • Patent number: 7225707
Abstract: The torque wrench with quick release gear set is a system having a rotary actuator drive unit, which is attachable to a planetary drive gear set by a quick-release cylindrical adapter and collar so as to provide quick interchangeability of gear sets without the use of tools. The rotary actuator actuates the planetary gear set by means of a drive shaft connection through the quick-release cylindrical adaptor to engage a corresponding input gear drive shaft. The rotary actuator may have a pistol grip handle that rotates 360° to provide a user with an ergonomically friendly tool. The planetary gear set contains axial thrust bearings between each planet carrier to reduce friction and increase stability. The planet carriers are made of single piece construction to provide increased gear set durability. Precision radial bearings keep the planetary carriers and annulus concentric.

  • Patent number: 7082858
Abstract: A hydraulic torque wrench having a separate ratchet unit and hydraulic cylinder drive unit connectable by an overlapping cylindrical connection at selected angles of rotation providing clearance in use. The hydraulic cylinder actuates the ratchet mechanism by a connecting rod traveling through the overlapping cylindrical connection and engaging a pivotable drive plate. The ratchet may have a male drive shaft for driving a socket, or a female driver such a hex or spline wrench. The ratchet unit case may be integral, or split for removable accesses to the ratchet mechanisms. The cylinder unit hydraulic connections may be separate rotatable connections or a single connection and collar, allowing three-way rotation. Attachments for the hydraulic unit include a pipe flange spreader, a nut splitter, scissor action shears, and a lift/spreader for lifting an object from a flat surface or spreading surfaces apart. A reaction bar affixes to the drive unit body.

  • Patent number: 5301574
Abstract: A hydraulic wrench is provided of minimum external dimensions and yet constructed in a manner to be capable of exerting relatively high torsional forces. The wrench is constructed to be driven by a hydraulically reciprocal piston carrying a rack gear thereon with the rack gear meshed with a reciprocal sector gear having a pawl pivotally supported therefrom for driving a ratchet-type power wheel of the wrench. The wrench is provided with a variably positionable and reversable reaction bar or abutment assembly on the end thereof remote from the power wheel and the wrench further includes a secondary deactivatable ratchet pawl for preventing reverse rotation of the main ratchet-type drive wheel of the wrench.
