  • Patent number: 11638902
Abstract: An apparatus utilizes a membrane unit to capture components from atmospheric air, including carbon dioxide, enriches the carbon dioxide concentration, and delivers the enriched concentration of carbon dioxide to a sequestering facility. The membrane is configured such that as a first gas containing oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide is drawn through the membrane, a permeate stream is formed where the permeate stream has an oxygen concentration and a carbon dioxide concentration higher than in the first gas and a nitrogen concentration lower than in the first gas. A permeate conduit, having a vacuum applied to it by a vacuum generating device receives the permeate stream and a delivery conduit delivers at least a portion of the enriched carbon dioxide to a sequestering facility. The apparatus may comprise a component of a system where the system may have a flue gas generator and/or a secondary enrichment system disposed between the vacuum generating device and the sequestering facility.

  • Patent number: 11383199
Abstract: A flue gas extraction system provides extraction, collection, cooling, enriching and distributing flue gas from a vent stack of a stationary flue gas generator to carbon dioxide consuming crops, orchards, and other photosynthetic organisms. The collected flue gas is processed through the system to achieve optimal temperature, pressure, flowrate, water content and carbon dioxide concentration for application to plants for increasing plant productivity and sequestering the carbon dioxide. The gas distribution network may have one or more membrane modules which receive a low pressure gas mixture, where the membrane modules are utilized to enrich the CO2 concentration and to separate out a nitrogen rich component from the flue gas.

  • Publication number: 20210178318
Abstract: An apparatus utilizes a membrane unit to capture components from atmospheric air, including oxygen and carbon dioxide, resulting in a permeate stream having an enriched concentration of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Alternatively, the membrane unit may be utilized to form a permeate stream having a permeate of enriched fast gas components. The permeate stream is thereafter directed to a permeate processing facility which may include a second stage of permeate enrichment, a flue gas generator, or a carbon dioxide sequestration facility for processing of an enriched stream of carbon dioxide. Among other carbon dioxide sequestration facilities, the carbon dioxide may be biologically sequestered by a facility of photosynthetic organisms, such as trees in an orchard, crops, or the like. The membrane unit may be shell-less and utilize a vacuum or positive pressure to facilitate the flow of fast gas components through a selective barrier of the membrane.

  • Patent number: 10897851
Abstract: The flue gas extraction system provides extraction, collection, dilution, cooling, and distribution of flue gas from a vent stack of a stationary flue gas generator. The collected flue gas is processed through the system to achieve optimal temperature, pressure, flowrate, and water content for application to plants for increasing plant productivity and sequestering the carbon dioxide. The processed flue gas may be enriched with additional carbon dioxide and/or have nutrients added to it to realize a gas concentration which, when applied to plants, promotes the growth, health and productivity of the plants. Application of carbon dioxide may be supplemented by providing additional components to the plants which maintain a level of fertilization and irrigation suitable for the increased biomass and water utilization efficiency of the plants resulting from the increased intake of carbon dioxide.

  • Publication number: 20200318793
Abstract: A system delivers carbon dioxide to a sequestration facility which may have photosynthetic organisms, such as crops, plants, and trees. The system has a containment structure which houses a volume of liquid or solid carbon dioxide (dry ice). The containment structure has a containment structure inlet and a containment structure outlet. A gas source provides a fluid to the containment structure through the containment structure inlet. Upon entry into the containment structure, the gas or a saturated liquid encounters the solid or liquid carbon dioxide causing sublimation or evaporation, resulting in the formation of carbon dioxide gas or liquid which flows out of the containment structure through the containment structure outlet. The gas entering the containment structure may also have subcooled CO2 liquid or solid (snow), which replenishes the solid or liquid within the containment structure. To supplement evaporation or sublimation of the subcooled liquid or solid, heating means are used.
