  • Patent number: 10098282
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a sensor detects a characteristic of accumulated crop material and a controller manipulates the speed of a baling chamber in response thereto. In an example method, the speed of a baling chamber of a variable speed baler is manipulated in response to a characteristic of an accumulated crop material. For example, the height of accumulated crop material in an accumulation area may be detected and the speed of the baling chamber manipulated in response thereto. The rate of growth of the bale may also be determined and used in manipulating the speed of the baling chamber.

  • Patent number: 9326450
Abstract: An accumulation windguard includes non-porous sidewalls and a porous cover that extend about an accumulation area of a baler. The sidewalls deflect transverse airflow across the accumulation area and the cover allows for longitudinal airflow. Openings in the cover may be sized to deflect crop material to the accumulation area during the passage of airflow therethrough.

  • Patent number: 8984851
Abstract: A harvesting header includes a cutter bed having a plurality of cutting elements arranged transverse to the header and a crop chopping and conditioning region having a crop chopping device and a crop conditioning device. The crop chopping device is configured to chop crop cut by the cutter bed into smaller lengths and the crop conditioning device is configured to crimp the crop to aid in drying. The first chopping roller has a tubular, cylindrically-shaped body and a plurality of parallel knife-mounting lugs extending radially outward along substantially the full length of the body. A plurality of chopping knives are attached to the knife-mounting lugs and arranged around the body, each chopping knife having a length that is shorter than the length of the knife-mounting lug to which it is attached such that each chopping knife covers only a portion of the lateral length of the first chopping roller.

  • Publication number: 20140338548
Abstract: A wrapping arrangement for a baler is configured to provide a plurality of twine strands perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bale from stationary positions relative the bale. A guide arrangement routes twine strands to align with forming belts of a baler and a feed mechanism feeds the twine strands into a baling chamber through contact with the bale forming belts. In one arrangement two twin strands are provided to each forming belt.
