    Abstract: Disclosed embodiments describe techniques for personal area network (PAN) enablement. PAIN connection uses an interconnection laminate substrate for connectivity of personal area network components. The interconnection laminate substrate may be flexible or rigid. In one preferred form of the invention, the interconnection laminate substrate is flexible. A plurality of personal area network components is provided. An interconnection laminate substrate is provided within a manufactured article (e.g., a soft good assembly), where the interconnection laminate substrate enables connectivity among the plurality of personal area network components, and where the interconnection laminate substrate comprises interconnection wiring encapsulated in at least one protective encapsulation layer, with the interconnection wiring being coupled to a plurality of exposed connectors.

    Abstract: Stray light in a metering structure is controlled by surrounding with a rigid shield an elongated length of a strut and supporting on the rigid shield a surface finish which is highly absorptive of light. The strut is thermally decoupled from the rigid shield using a plurality of insulating web layers comprising a multi-layer insulation (MLI) system disposed between the strut and the rigid shield. The MLI in such scenarios (1) thermally isolates the strut from the shield (2) serves as a support structure to support the rigid shield on the strut, and (3) absorbs thermally induced mechanical stresses as between the rigid shield and the strut.

A coating of a high temperature microcrystalline wax can be applied prior to final curing of the thermoset polyurethane to the coated nutrient core particles.

    Abstract: An integrated barrier or partition (e.g. suspended ceiling, wall, etc.) containing lightweight solid state light sources wherein the light emitting surface of the light sources are the primary heat dissipating surfaces of the light sources. The light sources comprising of light emitting diodes (LED) in thermal contact to light transmitting thermally conductive elements and combined with a reflector element to form a light recycling cavity, provide both convective and radiative cooling from their light emitting surfaces, eliminating the need for external appended heat sinks. Seismically safe suspended ceilings contain integrated lighting where the lighting adds less than one gram per square foot to the structure. The lighting, integrated into but without penetrating the barrier (suspended ceiling, ceiling, wall, floor, etc.), is nonflammable and does not promote flame spread or smoke generation.
