  • Patent number: 10639494
Abstract: The invention provides wearable devices for effecting transcranial magnetic stimulation to be used by patients who have suffered brain injuries. Permanent magnets are shifted or rotated to deliver a time-varying magnetic field, preferably about the locus of the injury. In an embodiment, the strong magnetic fields of the permanent magnets are directed to the injured area for therapeutic purposes. A novel mechanism is provided that uses a small battery-powered electromagnet to interact with the weak peripheral magnetic fields of the permanent magnets and to shift the permanent magnets between two or more stable positions. As a result, a lightweight, quiet, wearable device with low power consumption is provided.

Abstract: The invention provides wearable devices for effecting transcranial magnetic stimulation to be used by patients who have suffered brain injuries. Permanent magnets are shifted or rotated to deliver a time-varying magnetic field, preferably about the locus of the injury. In a preferred embodiment, the strong magnetic fields of the permanent magnets are directed to the injured area for therapeutic purposes. A novel mechanism is provided that uses a small battery-powered electromagnet to interact with the weak peripheral magnetic fields of the permanent magnets and to shift the permanent magnets between two or more stable positions. As a result, a lightweight, quiet, wearable device with low power consumption is provided.

  • Publication number: 20170172167
Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to a composition for feeding an infant. More particularly, the disclosure relates to a nutritional composition for feeding an infant comprising a stem-cell deficient first component and a second component comprising breast milk stem cells (BSCs). The second component is added to the first component, and the BSCs partially or fully replenish the stem-cell deficient first component with respect to BSCs. In some embodiments the first component is stem-cell deficient human breast milk and the second component comprises BSCs from the infant's mother's own milk. The compositions of the present disclosure have been developed primarily as a personalized, nutritional composition providing the beneficial effects of an infant's mother's own BSCs to the infant while not being able to receive the full benefits of being breastfed directly. The present disclosure also relates to a composition for feeding an infant and to processes of their production.

  • Patent number: 8660016
Abstract: The present invention enables testing of a VoIP network using various instrumented test streams. The testing can determine the quality of the transmission network before an internet VoIP service is put into production. The testing also enables regular diagnostic audits of a VoIP network to maintain the quality of the VoIP network. The testing enable measurement of, for example jitter, packet loss and delay and allow characteristics of the VoIP network to be obtained. In addition, the present invention can to determine the capacity and utilization of a VoIP transport network. Based on the measurements and characteristics of the VoIP network the present invention can control routing of a call on the VoIP network or can prevent a call from being made. The present invention also enables dynamic switching of CODECS during a session to enhance the performance of the VoIP network.

  • Patent number: 8635275
Abstract: Some embodiments of the present invention provide a method and system for correlating information regarding an interactive communication. A session application record is provided to store information of a session that represents an interactive communication that is at least between two endpoints. An application programming interface (API) is provided for users to create and manipulate session application records. Application specific data or customized data can be stored with the session application record using a tag that includes a name and value pair. One session application record can be associated with another session application record by using a relation. Any information that is gathered during a session can be accessible even when one of the endpoints is replaced by another endpoint.

  • Publication number: 20080168592
Abstract: A hospital gown (100) is provided with an access flap (120) in the front of the hospital gown in the chest area of the patient. The access flap (120) attaches and detaches from the hospital gown providing access to the chest area of the patient without the need to remove the hospital gown off the patient. Further, a support flap (130) is provided on the front section of the hospital gown such that the support flap (130) supports a medical tube between the support flap (130) and the hospital gown (100), in order to prevent the medical tube from detaching from the patient's body in case of an accident. Also, openings (160) at the lower side regions of the gown allow for a connection or other medical tubing to the patient's body.

  • Publication number: 20070088250
Abstract: Inner and outer shield parts of a breastshield are joined to form an enclosure defining a pressurizable chamber. The inner shield part has at least a portion thereof movable relative to the outer shield part when the chamber is subject to a negative or a positive pressure. A first pressure port is in communication respectively with the chamber for connection with a fluid pressure source of a first pressure. A second pressure port is in communication with the interior for connection with a pressure source of a second pressure. The breastshield is thus capable of being subjected to two different pressures, such as a positive pressure to move (expand) the chamber into the interior, so as to compress or massage the nipple/breast, and a negative pressure in the interior to draw the nipple/breast further therein for the expression of milk. The pressures can be independently controlled, and may furthermore alternate being negative and positive through the same pressure port.
