  • Patent number: 11980825
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide an apparatus and methods for assisting individuals in controlling respiratory rates. For example, a respiratory regulation apparatus is provided in the form of a plush animal toy that operates components to simulate the breathing rate of anxious individuals. The apparatus may include actuators that are controlled by a slotted cam that is dynamically rotated at varying speeds in a determined rotational direction. The actuators move inward and outward in relative directions to move a torso of the plush animal toy to simulate breathing. In certain aspects, actuators may expand outward while at the same time another actuator contracts inward to cause the torso to simulate realistic breathing movements. A processor controls the speed of the cam such that the simulated breathing of the animal toy apparatus can be reduced at a controlled rate to assist an individual in reducing their breathing rate to a calmer state.

  • Publication number: 20230329870
Abstract: A pre-sutured allograft construct and method of manufacture for repairing, replacing, reconstructing, or augmenting a hip or shoulder labrum may include a folded tissue portion extending from a first end to a second end and forming top, middle, and bottom folds. A stitched pattern secures the folded tissue portion into a graft roll having an overall length extending from a first adjustable region, through a central region, and through a second adjustable region. A continuous series of whip stitches extends from the first adjustable region, through the central region, and through the second adjustable region. A series of triple circumferential stitches overlays the whip stitches in the first and the second adjustable regions, while a series of circumferential stitches alternates with the whip stitches in the central region. The construct is pre-manufactured as an allograft product, but is adjustable during the surgical procedure within the body. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20230294899
Abstract: Food products can be stored and sold in packaging. For example, a perishable food product can be stored in a first compartment of a packaging, and a second food product can be stored in a second compartment. The first compartment can include a modified atmosphere to increase the shelf life of the food product in the first compartment. The second compartment can be under normal atmosphere. This allows a more perishable food product to be stored in the first compartment, and a prepackaged, or otherwise less perishable food product to be separately stored in the second compartment, while extending the shelf life of the food products. The first product could be a sandwich, and the second product be one or more condiments for the sandwich.

  • Patent number: 11733409
Abstract: A neutron imaging system includes a neutron generator, a flight tube, a stage, a neutron imaging module, and a neutron shield. The flight tube enables neutrons from the neutron generator to enter the flight tube through an input opening and exit through an output opening. The stage supports a sample object to receive neutrons that pass through the entire length of the flight tube and the output opening. The neutron imaging module has a neutron-sensitive component that receives neutrons that pass through the sample object and generates neutron detection signals. The neutron shield surrounds at least a portion of the flight tube and the neutron imaging module to block at least a portion of stray neutrons that travel toward the neutron-sensitive component of the neutron imaging module, in which the stray neutrons do not enter the flight tube through the input opening of the flight tube.

  • Patent number: 11141709
Abstract: A sequencing capture array for identifying mutations in Multiple Myeloma is disclosed. Also disclosed are targeted next generation sequencing methods for identifying SNV, CNV, and translocation mutations in Multiple Myeloma tumor cells. A capture array representing fewer than 500 genes implicated in Multiple Myeloma can be used to analyze tumor mutations and create a personalized treatment plan for a Multiple Myeloma patient. Analytical methods are presented that allow tumor mutations to be elucidated with coverage at a sequencing depth of no more than 500×, or as low as 100×, with optimal efficiency achieved at a sequencing depth of about 300×.

  • Publication number: 20210148047
Abstract: A system and method are provided for predictive control of brown stock treatment at a pulp mill. Various online sensors generate output signals representative of actual values for respective process characteristics, each of which are directly or indirectly affected by adjustments to corresponding process variables. A controller uses the output signals or associated measurement data to dynamically set target values for the process characteristics based on a predicted impact of control responses for corresponding process variables. The controller further generates control signals to actuators associated with the respective process variables based on detected variations between the respective actual values and target values. Exemplary brown stock washing control systems may optimize various types of brown stock washing configurations, including for example vacuum drum washers, compaction baffle washers, chemiwashers, direct displacement washers and wash presses.
