  • Patent number: 4025967
Abstract: A toilet tank flush valve which can be operted to provide a full or partial flush of the fluid contents of the tank. An auxiliary operating arm is provided so as to cooperate with the conventional valve actuating mechanism and at the same time not interfere with the operation of such mechanism. The operating arm cooperates with the conventional mechanism so that upon actuation of said arm the mechanism effects only a partial opening of the flush valve from a closed position.

  • Patent number: 4002013
Abstract: A running yarn is spliced into a running tow by entangling filaments of the tow with and about filaments of the yarn with an air-jet device, the leading portion of the yarn is severed to leave a small protruding tail, and the tail is entangled within the tow with a second air-jet device. The air-jet devices comprise two halves which are separated and positioned on each side of the tow until a splice is to be formed; they are then closed to form cylindrical treatment chambers of diameters which impart a rounded shape to the tow, so that filaments are entangled about the yarn by the air jets. The air-jet devices are preferably designed to provide a forwarding action on the filaments.

  • Patent number: 4000727
Abstract: A device for controlling fuel evaporation and overflow expansion out of an automobile fuel tank is connected to the filler neck. The device is basically designed for easy installation on cars not originally equipped with fuel tank controls (generally referred to as a retrofit evaporation kit). It incorporates a container for receiving both fuel vapors and the liquid fuel overflow and is connected to a carbon cannister vapor storage element. The container has one conduit extending between the container and the filler neck which permits both fuel vapors and liquid fuel overflow to flow back and forth between the container and the filler neck. The container has a second conduit which is connected to the carbon cannister vapor storage element and which permits only fuel vapor to flow from the container to the carbon cannister vapor storage element. A third connection may be used from the carburetor to a diaphragm operated valve in the cannister to control recycle.

  • Patent number: 3996815
Abstract: A safety guard structure including a guard member adapted to be interposed between a mechanism such as a punch press and the operator thereof to protect the operator from injury. In one form of the invention the guiding frame for guiding the guard member between its upper and lower positions is swingably connected to the mechanism to be guarded to permit the entire guiding frame to be swung upwardly so as to present no interference when it is desired to modify the mechanism or to change the dies thereof. In another form of the invention the guide structure for the guard member is entirely positioned above the area to be protected so as to present no interference when it is necessary for operators to work around the machine. An interlocking device is provided to prevent operation of the mechanism except when the guard member and its guide structure are in proper operating position.

  • Patent number: 3988980
Abstract: A safety guard structure for protecting personnel from injury while operating a machine such as a punch press. The guard member is supported at three points for vertical movement between upper and lower positions. At two upper points the guard is supported on rollers which roll on vertically extending parallel guides and at one lower point the guard is centrally supported on the lower end of a vertically extending rod slidable in fixed bearings. The resulting structure is not only economical to build but gives optimum guiding effect for the guard. The embodiment disclosed permits the entire guard structure to be swung outwardly to a position permitting access to the machine above the protected area.

  • Patent number: 3989128
Abstract: The ground wheels of a wheeled suitcase are provided with a mount and a socket is fixed to the suitcase to permit the wheels to be readily secured and removed. The socket provided on the suitcase is of minimal thickness and formed so as to obviate snagging with adjacent articles while the suitcase is being transported in the normal manner without wheels.

  • Patent number: 3978832
Abstract: A device for temporarily changing the ignition setting of an internal combustion engine in response to a sudden change of the suction in the intake manifold. A suction operated motor is connected to the ignition timing mechanism to control the suction operated timing of the ignition in response to intake manifold suction changes. The action of the motor is controlled for a selected time interval to reduce the suction operated spark advance for a substantial portion of a normal level road acceleration in city driving as sensed by the change in intake manifold suction.

  • Patent number: 3971238
Abstract: A door lock for use with an elongated rod used as an auxiliary holding device in addition to the conventional door lock. The auxiliary door holding rod is actuatable from outside the door by means of a conventional key actuated lock so as to permit the auxiliary safety rod to be moved between locked and unlocked positions from outside the door as well as from inside the door. A lost motion device is incorporated in the connection between the door lock and the rod holder to prevent interference between the lock structure and the internal manual actuation of the rod holder.
