  • Publication number: 20060221173
Abstract: Terminals (110) at premises (100, 200, 250) of a group of users allow the group to collectively experience and discuss media content selected by a member of the group. Terminals (110) are interconnected via a network (internet 300). Terminal (110) receives a first user's selection of media content, such as a television channel, for presentation by a media presentation device (e.g. television receiver 150) local to the terminal (110). Terminal (110) forwards an identifier of the selected media content to other terminals at premises (200, 250) over the network (300). Other terminals receive, via network (300), the identifiers of media content selected by the first user and instruct a media presentation device local to them to present the same media content In the event that a terminal cannot access the selected content using one of it's local media presentation devices, it may seek an alternative source, such as an online source on the network (300).

  • Publication number: 20050103557
Abstract: A power transmitting device, such as a differential, having a housing, input and output shafts, which are rotatably disposed in the housing, a gear set, one or more actuators and/or one or more sensors disposed within the housing, and a connector having a fitting, a seal member and a locking member. The gear set is operable for transmitting rotary power between the input and output shafts. The fitting has a body that extends through a hole formed in the housing. The body includes a plurality of terminals that are electrically coupled to the at least one electrical components. The seal member is disposed between the fitting and the housing to form a seal therebetween. The locking member engages the body and the housing to retain the fitting to the housing. The fitting facilitates electrical connection of the electrical components within the housing with a wire harness that is external to the housing.

  • Publication number: 20030064736
Abstract: A device and method providing improved text entry via touch input means are described. The touch input means is labelled so as to provide a keypad, the keypad itself comprising key regions (206) which each depict a primary character surrounded by other characters. To enter text the user touches the key region (206) associated with the character required, and then moves the touch input in the direction of the required character. The method comprises the steps of defining a trajectory (312) comprising a plurality of location points (313) in response to the touch input; analysing the trajectory to determine a predominant direction and a representative location (206) of the trajectory; and selecting a character for input depending on the location and direction of the trajectory.

  • Publication number: 20020174638
Abstract: A tool head attachment is disclosed for use with a farm or other industrial equipment, such as a bobcat or a four-wheeler. Extending from a frame mounted on the vehicle or equipment is a beam attached to self-leveling mechanism. The beam meets at an angle on a rotatable assembly from which another beam extends. The rotatable assembly allows up to full rotation of one beam about the other beam for storage. At or near the rotatable assembly is a safety break away mechanism which causes the beams to separate when a major obstacle is encountered. The other beam extending from the rotatable assembly is attached to a self-articulating and self-leveling assembly to which a tool head is mounted. The self-articulating and self-leveling assembly maintains the tool head a relative distance from or into the surface of the ground and easily deflects upon encountering a minor obstacle without interruption of operation. Different tool heads may include tillers, harvesters, cutters, etc.

  • Patent number: 6186974
Abstract: A glaucoma filtration implant is constituted by a generally tubular body section having an oblong external diameter formed of a continuous convex curve. The device preferably has flow resistance structure provided by a portion of the internal lumen having a reduced diameter. The flow resistance structure may have a length of up to 5000 &mgr;m and a diameter in the range 15 to 50 &mgr;m, the diameter being selected so as to achieve a pressure drop along the flow resistance structure in the range 5 to 15 mm Hg. The internal conduit for liquid flow also may include a removable flow inhibitor, which can be removed after implantation by a laser, such as an ophthalmic YAG laser. The device is made of biocompatible materials.

  • Patent number: 4116471
Abstract: A quick operating connector for pipe or the like including a pair of coupling members, each adapted to be connected at one end thereof to one of said pipes. The first coupling member has an annular radially outward extending flange having a forward side and a rearward side with a radially inner portion and a radially outer portion. Both of the portions define the shape of a frustrum having a forwardly facing base, and the slope of the radially inner portion relative to the central axis of first coupling member is greater than that of the radially outer portion. The second coupling member has a housing for receiving the flange in mating engagement therewith. Disposed circumferentially about the housing is a plurality of self-locking cams which are radially inwardly and outwardly movable between a retracted position in which flange is receivable within the housing and an extended position in which the self-locking cams engage the radially inner portion of the flange in self-locking fashion.
