  • Patent number: 4908654
Abstract: Apparatus and method are disclosed for automatic printing of an enlarged reproduction of an image frame stored on a microfilm without reproduction of images found on adjacent image frames and without the need to reposition the image frame adjacent frame marks found on a display screen. The method and apparatus of the invention provide for automatic calculation of the distance between the top of the image and the upper frame marks on the apparatus' display screen and the distance between the leading edges of the image frame to be reproduced and an adjacent image frame. In response to these calculations, an enlarged reproduction is produced that excludes information from adjacent image frames even though the image reproduced is of relatively short length compared to the copy sheet it is printed upon.

  • Patent number: 4750021
Abstract: Apparatus for printing an enlarged reproduction of an image frame stored on a microfilm includes means for measuring the pitch length between the image frame and an adjacent image frame and in response to such measurement produces a signal to inhibit the reproduction of portions of the adjacent image frame on the reproduction.

  • Patent number: 4746956
Abstract: A microfilm strip includes image frames arranged in chapters with indicia provided identifying those image frames which head the chapters. When it is desired to produce multiple prints of each of the image frames in a chapter the image frame comprising the first frame or head of the chapter is moved into the print gate. Upon entry of the print command signal, the strip is automatically advanced so that the last frame of the chapter is in the print gate. The printer then automatically prints each frame of the chapter starting with the last frame and ending with the first frame of the chapter. The prints arrive face-up at the output of the printer in collated form. As multiple sets of prints of the chapter are desired, the microfilm after printing the first image frame, returns to the last image frame for repeat printing of another set of prints of the chapter. This operation is repeated until the number of sets of collated prints is provided at the output.

  • Patent number: 4739368
Abstract: A microform reader-printer apparatus includes a viewing screen having ruler-like fiducial marks that are indicative of distance from an edge of an image frame being viewed. The apparatus includes a keyboard permitting the operator to input data to a printer control regarding the portion of the image frame which is desired to be copied by the printer. In the printing mode the portion of the image frame selected for reproduction is printed using an electrophotographic reproduction engine. An electro-static image of the image selected for reproduction is formed on a photoconductive drum by translating a pair of scanning mirrors. Means including a notched bracket movable with the scanning mirror is provided for controlling the "on" time of a projection lamp and/or corona charger so that electrostatic image formation occurs only for the portion of the image frame selected for reproduction.
