  • Publication number: 20060106317
Abstract: The present invention provides an optical system comprises a scanning spectrometer incorporating an electronic light modulator and digital signal processing means. The spectrometer technique combined with optical signal encoding provides the ability to obtain spectral signatures and identify optical patterns of biological tissue. One example of biological tissue scanning includes techniques such as identification of optical patterns of normal and abnormal tissues in addition to the delineation of these spectral patterns between the abnormal and normal tissue. Due to an enhanced signal-to-noise ratio provided by the optical system according to the present invention, this optical system can detect patterns in biological tissue that may be more subtle than those patterns that would be possible to obtain with currently available optical systems.

  • Patent number: 6975832
Abstract: A multi-media photograph album comprises a network of electrical conductors which connect with plural data storage devices storing audio data and/or image data. A user, via a user interface, selectively addresses the data storage devices. The user selects individual sound bites for immediate playback via a speaker in the photo album, or via transmission over a wireless link, for playback through an external audio device, for example a hi-fi system. Image data are retrieved from the data storage devices and sent via a wireless link to an image data storage device, e.g., a personal computer. The data storage device can be embedded within a photograph, or can be a separate data storage device attached to the album.

  • Patent number: 6839507
Abstract: In a system for thermal processing of a semiconductor substrate, an RTP system employs a reflector plate which is highly reflective of radiation in a target wavelength range, and less reflective of radiation outside that target wavelength range. In one embodiment, the reflector plate has a highly reflective portion overlying a less reflective portion, wherein the highly reflective portion is highly reflective of radiation in the target wavelength range. As radiation emitted by the substrate is received on the reflector, the radiation in the target wavelength range is reflected, thereby facilitating measurement of the substrate temperature by the pyrometer(s), while radiation outside the target wavelength range is absorbed, thereby facilitating cooling of the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20030225572
Abstract: An annotation is recorded on to an electronic storage medium for inclusion within a storage device which is selectively engageable with an arbitrary physical object. This engagement can be provided by a number of conventional means: a spring loaded clip (particularly suitable for engagement with objects), a weakly adhesive surface, or a magnetic element. The annotation may then be read from the sound storage device while it remains engaged with such an arbitrary object using an appropriate further device. This arrangement is particularly appropriate for annotation of documents with sound, and thus allows sound passages to be used in a very versatile fashion, particularly for annotation and messaging.

  • Patent number: 6602271
Abstract: The present invention is a collapsible blood filter for use during a vascular procedure, such as angioplasty or stent deployment. A filter made of braided filaments is located on the distal end of a delivery member, and the filter is deployed downstream of the vascular treatment site to capture emboli released during and immediately after the procedure. Optimal braid geometry of the filter ensures that captured emboli will be retained during collapse and removal of the filter following the procedure.
